just seen CABIN IN THE WOODS
EXCELLENT MOVIE...nothing like anything you would think it is
|
Looks too fucking scary ><
|
I'll let you know one thing. It doesn't have jack shit to do with a cabin in the woods
|
rottentomatoes gives it a 93%..which is unheard of for a horror movie,,, but this is no ordinary horror movie
|
I wanna see this...Will see it this week.
Thanks for the heads up! |
I guess I'll have to see it :thumbsup :thumbsup
|
Great to hear. Been waiting to see and now I will make sure I do see it.

As his fame went up, his quality went down. But Taylor Allderdice was a nice comeback IMHO: http://www.datpiff.com/Wiz-Khalifa-T...pe.324466.html
He even did a joint on there with ya boy from Odd Future, it goes hard IMO... |
Cool, I'll give it a try!
|
I wanna check it out. My gf will never come with me to see movies like that though...
|
Putting in in DVR search now!

a 93% on Rotten tomatoes? the IS unheard of. I haven't read anything about this film, and having just viewed the trailer I am intrigued.
Am I off base thinking it's some kind of Cube-style horror film? |

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_cabin_in_the_woods/ It's hard to explain without giving anything away..but here are some blurbs from critics "Not since Scream has a horror movie subverted the expectations that accompany the genre to such wicked effect as The Cabin in the Woods." "Absolutely genius movie. Totally brilliant... I don't know how anyone can possibly make a horror movie again. Cabin renders all past and future examples of the genre superfluous..." "A fantastically-crafted debut by Goddard with so many moving parts, one would expect a far more experienced director would be necessary to pull it off." "Look for it to thrill you, scare you and tickle you - all at the very same time. It's a wild ride - hop aboard before someone spoils it for you." "A super-entertaining, super-slick love/hate letter to horror with a final 20 minutes that's stunningly bonkers." "Spectacle for spectacle's sake, but infiltrated by intelligent commentary and an atmosphere of generosity and inclusion." "Clever and inventive, the film delivers to the hard core horror fans as well as to moveigoers seeking wild fun." |
Does Buffy actually finally get laid?
|
Love when the final scene happens and Styx's "Roll With the Changes" plays....
Best part o' da movie. |
After watching the trailer, it has too much of a "The Hunger Games" feel to it... like when everyone and their mother, uncle, sister and aunt tammy copied shit from the matrix...
|
I just saw this yesterday. The last act is pretty cool but you have to sit through over an hour of same old, same old bullshit you see in every movie like this. Can't decide whether the final act is worth the sore ass cramps or not. It's probably worth seeing.
Better than THE HUNGER GAMES, but that's not saying much. Picture an episode of BUFFY with tons of money put into it. |
brilliant movie!
|
I recommend seeing it knowing as little about it as you possibly can...
semi spoilers It's a great spin on the genre, and there are incredible odes to every genre of horror in there...As a movie nerd, it was pretty much geared toward throwing movie nerds a bunch of inside jokes about horror movies in general... |

Or if it was "Just Okay" |

Ending is pretty cool though, but still not sure it balances out |
What a ride. I was not expecting anything like that. I would say go see it, surrender to the initial stupidity of it -- and you'll have a trip down the rabbit-hole.
|
movie was definitely different. I really liked it but the GF didn't as much.
|
Should've had Tim Curry playin' the Pennywise.
|
wan't even scary ... was more funny than anything!

Excellent film, loved it. I can't wait to see it again!
btw, roll with the changes was REO speedwagon |
NO SPOILERS
I finally saw this movie over the weekend and loved it. It was really smart and a helluva lot of fun. I was really lucky to have skipped out on all of the previews and trailers for this movie so I didn't know a damn thing about it going into the theatre. My first WTF moment happened with the first frame, but my first "THIS IS GOING TO ROCK" moment occurred when "THE CABIN IN THE WOODS" was blasted in big giant text over the freeze frame of those 2 guys. My GF Tracy loved it too but was really confused as to what was going on for a while, and she usually guesses the endings to movies like this. What was really cool is that she was genuinely scared out of her mind at certain parts of the movie (like the basement scene). Anyway, if you like movies, go see it. If you like horror movies, Go see it tonight. If you like SMART movies made by movie makers who know what the F they are doing, GO NOW before some asshole ruins the movie by telling you about it first. |

This is what sucked me into the movie theater in the first place. I know they have to make their investment back but, this shouldn't be spoken in the same breath as EVIL DEAD, or anything else Rami did for that matter (even spider-man III LOL - just kidding on this one), but really... Comparing this to EVIL DEAD is like comparing SONS OF ANARCHY to THE SOPRANOS. Oh yeah, they try and do that too :1orglaugh |

Haven't watched...

... but speaking of Evil Dead. Sure its a "classic" and its a fun movie, but in reality its not very good. Evil Dead #1 was especially bad. II was ok and III was a real dud. The movies are saved by some Raimi-isms of camera work and fun acting by Bruce Campbell, but thats it. It's not that scary or not that funny. Therefore anyone can compare any movie to Evil Dead, and most of the time Evil Dead would lose. Yes I know I've just been kicked out of the horror-nerd club. |
I just seen this movie and have to disagree
I watch a lot of movies, and this movie was a mess, terrible :( |
I don't think anything is actually very scary these days. Maybe the excorcist, the ring, night of the living dead at the time.
But you might want to check out VANISHING ON 7TH STREET if you like horror that messes with your mind. It's sort of like PULSE. It's more like the unknown as opposed to CLIVE BARKER rip off monsters coming after you at the end of a story. |
Amazing movie :-)
