Rather than just call everyone a moron post some info that will help the guy - Why he is he being a moron? - Tell him what is wrong with his post...... Otherwise you are just a waste of good bandwidth. :2 cents: |
Here are some good deals I have come across so far this morning so will post them here for everyone's benefit:
Yesuphost comes fairly close with 16GB RAM for $89/month (or 8GB for $49/month), but they're in Canada, and their network has had a few issues recently. DataShack should be able to do that for $69 (i3/8GB/gigabit), but they're sold out right now. They also have a dual core 5150 with 8GB for $59/month, but it's also sold out. DediDirect might be worth looking at also if they're still doing that special for 8GB at $75/month. |
amerinoc.com send them an email and they will work something out for you

I have a $99 dedicated with Razor
Xeon E31230 / 8GB / 500GB / 10TB / 8 IP's |
thats going to be hard to find even on a self managed server.
|
If you can manage your own servers, I highly recommend SecuredServers.
For managed servers, check out amerinoc. coupons for both in sig :thumbsup |
+1 for AmeriNoc :thumbsup

Well guys lets also not forget the biggest point that was made "10000 concurrent users." Depending on what those users are doing will also determine the amount of bandwidth needed. If your downloading even a 50kb file by all 10k users your looking at roughly a 480Mbps of bandwidth alone just to handle that simple image file.
Even at FDC which is known for its low cost bandwidth, a dual core atom with 2GBs ram, and 250GB HD with a 1Gbit uplink your looking at $185/month. So yes you can get a server for under $100/month but what are those 10k users going to be doing, and how much bandwidth are you going to need? |
10k concurrent users? thats going to be probably over 600 req/s. I hope your serving static content and no streaming or dynamic pages, and if you are i hope to god you have a small database that is tuned correctly.
a 100/month server more than likely isn't going to work for you. if your business model is giving away stuff and not making money and you can't afford the correct platform you need to re-think your business model. With that much traffic you should be able to generate some sort of decent revenue. I wish you luck with this. |
LOL @ you morons spamming Amerinoc in every hosting related thread witnout reading them.
please show me those Amerinoc's <$100/month servers that can handle "10000 concurrent users" Fucking clowns :321GFY |

First and foremost, you get what you pay for. Remember this. Go for the cheapest and end up with problems. Trust me on this... The most common drawback is bandwidth quality. Sure, you may get 1000mbps with an account but if it's on some shitty tier-3 network you're fucked. Customer service is also a key thing to think about, as is hardware reliability.
As far as my recommendation goes, http://limestonenetworks.com Support is top notch. Never had an important ticket go more than 5 minutes without someone working on it. They don't have tech "levels" either. Sure, some techs specialize in different areas but you'll never deal with some level 4 tech who knows fuck all about servers. In nearly 3 years of hosting with them, we've had 2 hardware issues that were taken care of straight away. During this time we've only experienced significant down time once, about a year ago which was due to a pretty serious network attack (at the host level, not server level); which was taken care of in less than 4 hours. We also hosted with them through the 2011 (record setting) Texas wildfires and while they were slightly under staffed, we didn't have a minute of down time. If you decide to go with them, use coupon code RSL395C5274 for a 5% discount. You could probably get on chat with them and get a bigger discount depending on what you're looking for. |

After all these years I finally figured it out, when people say 10,000 concurrent requests and less than $100 server, they really mean 10K visitors per day :)

Why not tell him what is wrong with his question? Other people seem to have done it. This guy is always doing it. I know this is GFY but there is nothing in the rules that say you have to behave like a cunt all of the time.... |

Hit me up and lets talk some specs you might need, what your doing with all the concurrent users, etc.

Thanks everyone for your input, much appriciated.
10000 concurrent was a once or twice a day possibilty. The users would be browsing just static pages ogling at pics of naked busty cuties! There will also be one vbulletin based forum. Mostly there will be less than 1000 users online simultaneously. We come off much better by behaving nicely towards each other rather than trying to degrade ourselves by posting disgusting comments. |
