Lot of specific complaining this month on decline in sales. Shouldn't they be up?

mozadek 03-26-2012 07:59 PM

People are not adapting which is why their sales are dying.

NerdScott 03-26-2012 07:59 PM

You must be promoting the wrong sites. Hit me up if you got tranny traffic and i will make you some dough

d-null 03-26-2012 08:06 PM

there are still file hosters :2 cents:

let me rephrase, cheggit is gone this year too, so there are no longer any big dedicated "porn torrent" sites.

We've had the best month (March) in 3 years. But no...the pirate sites are from from "gone"

There are still literally thousands of them out there filled to the top with pirated porn.

And then you have the "desperation" sites like porn.com, where Pimproll is giving away all of their content from all of their paysites to try and gain traffic to make money off of that.

Nope...for generic porn with LA girls fucked by LA guys...nothing has changed. It's all still free.

Help me adapt. How can I adapt so my sales don't die?

signupdamnit 03-26-2012 08:46 PM

Piracy isn't gone by a long shot. A small dent has been made and it has helped in some cases because many older links have been eliminated at least temporarily. It will take a lot more to eliminate the negative effect piracy has had. Don't forget it took many years to get to this point starting from 2006/2007 where it got out of control.

My sales are actually pretty good overall this month. I only bitch about CCBill because it's frustrating to always have a ten day period each month where your conversions are double or triple as bad as another portion of the month.

baryl 03-26-2012 08:47 PM

People are so accustomed to free porn that they're practically offended at the idea of paying for it.

That being said, I got a completely random check in the mail today from a Pimproll Hosted Tube sale that I had no idea existed. :1orglaugh

Porn torrent sites aren't gone. What planet does your brain live on? Planet Really Fucking Stupid?

Besides, "regular people" would rather pay a one time $10 fee to their cable or sattelite TV provider to watch a porn movie rather than risk paying a joke of an online internet site $30 bucks a month.

File hosts have nothing to do with the decline of this business.

You have "best month" every three month Robbie. You have 26 sign ups from Hun.
Makes me wonder why you haven't bought manwin or any other affiliate programs.

Fuck no. That shit comes on you cable bill and you can get busted by your mom, gf, wife.. Internet is a lot easier to stay off radar.
Lets face it, mainstream porn is fucking dead. Every god damned tube has 40 Ava Devine videos, so theres no reason to push that shit unless you have some good SE position and get the real fan af Ava Devine. Now if you have shaved Japanese pussies content , you're in control. Try finding shaved Jap girl ? Fuck no again.

When are you guys going to realize that piracy was always around and the market is just way bigger in 2012 compared to 1996 - 2008?

Because what you are saying isn't the whole story.

"Piracy" back in 1996 was a few guys trading videos. Nobody has a problem with that.

Piracy today is open access to all porn for free to hundreds of millions of people. It's a completely different thing. Your statement is just not the full story.

Yes, the "market" is bigger. But the "market" is no longer a market for PORN. That's all free now.

When are you going to realize that piracy has and is destroying the PORN business. Seems to have been great though for guys who don't mind running pirate sites and making money off of traffic selling everything BUT porn.

I will agree that piracy is now more mainstream and google indexing everything doesn't help anything... I just think about people like my father, doesn't even know what an mp3 is, surfs the internet every day and most importantly, buys shit online. I think there are still fuck tons of guys out there just like him. Piracy is dominated by people who can't even legally buy porn, gotta remember that as well :thumbsup

I agree. Pirate sites are full of 15 year old boys.

But the problem for our industry is this...my tgp's used to be full of those same teen boys. And we showed them just enough stuff to make them want to be able to get inside the members areas. So by the time they were old enough to get a credit card they were ready to buy.

That don't happen now.

The 15 year olds in 2008 who started on pirate sites are now adults who don't even think porn was ever anything BUT free. :(

And of course there are still porn sites that offer something worth buying that is better than the free generic porn. But man...it sure killed affiliates of pay sites. I personally lost right at 7 figures a year in affiliate money I was making selling paysite memberships. :(

travs 03-26-2012 10:00 PM

porn can be free at times...but it's still up to us how we can make the people itch to whip up their CC and pay

You are right about those TGP kids for sure, in fact I was one of them. :1orglaugh I bought a Twistys member as soon as I got a debit card after turning 18.

ColBigBalls 03-26-2012 10:17 PM

If your shit is shit nobody's going to buy it. :2 cents:

baryl 03-26-2012 11:55 PM

The hardest part is getting someone to sign up for their first membership with a site. If they have a good experience, they'll be buying porn for life because it's simply much better than tubes, torrents, free clips, etc.
On the other hand, if they get their card banged, hit with a ton of shady cross sells or whatever, they're most likely never buying porn or anything porn-related again.

A lot of the industry did this to themselves over the years.

There is still a ton of file-sharing services and torrents. Check pornolab.net - I believe there you will find a full site rip of everything.

seeandsee 03-27-2012 05:05 AM

full length legal video tubes are still online last time i checked :)

SlammedMedia 03-27-2012 05:23 AM

you think that's the only way to get free porn? you ever go to a tube site?

People steal far more mainstream product than they do porn. Porn just has no real protection, and the unique situation of having "respectable" merchants compensating thieves for ripping off their friends and suppliers. Its like a vendor paying a thief to steal his farmer supplier's crops and selling them for half price - seems smart now but in five years they'll both have starved to death.

It isn't bad product either - are you telling me that grainy shitty movies that end with 30 seconds of Ron Jeremy's sweaty face before the cum shot were better? That seeing the same piss poor tit jobs and hearing that fucking ridiculous music that everyone makes fun of was better? Those movies sucked ass and they were made to take money, not for quality. The only ones anyone watches today is because they were "seminal" (literally) or "groundbreaking". In truth they sucked and the reason anyone used them is because the alternative was Crazy Larry Flynt's moonrock bitches.

People now try to get everything for free. Online porn was at one time, maybe, a 5 bil business; I'd say 200mil now. People below a certain age think they are being outsmarted if they have to pay.

I don't think sales will ever go up significantly again. I think the pie is 200m.

Value of pirated software nearly $59 billion: study

Klen 03-27-2012 07:32 AM

Torrent/Filelockers exist since 2002,and money was still good till tube sites arrived.Since then(2007/2008) sales went to complete shitter.I mean how can you blame pirate sites for sales if maybe 90% of entire traffic goes to top 10 tube sites?

PR_Dave 03-27-2012 07:42 AM

PimpRoll gives away short tube clips of its exclusive scenes, just for the record and we opened up www.paidperview.com for others to adapt and make $$ from TUBES.

lucas131 03-27-2012 07:59 AM

I don't know if I would consider 30 minute videos "short tube clips". I just went to porn.com and clicked on one video, for free, that I recognized from clips I used to promote pimproll many years ago. At least some of those videos you are giving away for free on porn.com are the same ones your affiliates are trying to sell. It's your right to do this but there's no sense beating around the bush or sugarcoating it.

I think you have the right idea but I definitely believe the paysite business alone still does way more than $200 million. People argue that there are more customers and thus a bigger market but I know for a fact (as should anyone who has been in the business for a while) that $/impression is way down from what it was a decade ago as it relates to paysite sales. It's true that piracy and industry practices have radically devalued the value of the paysite product. If anyone suggests otherwise I would suggest they remove their head from their ass and take a look around. :upsidedow
