More protests in Montreal today. WTF?
 

So right now I'm on a terrace at a pub (Mad Hatters) not far from St. Catherine street, and it is loud as fuck. Helicopters are in the sky and there are hundreds of cops in the streets. Why? Because of yet another protest. This time, by students bitching about a $300.00 per year increase in college tuition fees.

It's a silly protest. The students have been "on strike" for a couple of weeks I think now, missing school.

There are a couple of students from other countries and I can overhear them talking. They do not understand the protest. They are happy as fuck to be going to school in Canada and say that they would never protest anything here especially the petty rate increase. To them going to school is the greatest gift no matter what the price.

As I said earlier there are helicopters in the sky and more cops are arriving by the minute. The seeds of yet another Montreal riot are in the air...

I think the correct raise is 1625$.

They've been out of control for the past weeks, blocking bridges, and then asking why the population is tired of them...

what the fuck are they thinking? they should sit there and take it like good little bitches, right?

school prices in canada are actually quite affordable compared to most countries, including the US.. We subsidize our tuitions, have many grants available, loan forgiveness programs. What else do you want?

I know free scholarship systems and believe me you don't want that. Spending 3 years trying to get a place in university because there is no room. So many graduates competition is not even funny with engineers and lawyers working as cab drivers because there are no jobs.

It's the constant increases for education that are the problem. That extra $300.00 works out to much much more once interest over 10 years of paying it back are taken into consideration as well.
