I've seen some old (25-30 year) HDs listed on data recovery buy/sell sites for $1k+. They probably have one of each sitting there doing nothing, hoping one day that a some important device containing the HD will fail, and a replacement will be needed in a hurry, cost no argument...
well thats with everything wonder how much the first color tv's went for

i remember very good that a Compaq 386 with 1 mb RAM, VGA color graphics and a 10 mb HD cost around $15,000 in 1987 or 88
Dollars were twice as valuable then, too. That's a $5,000 hard drive.
We wouldnt have thought something like the iPhone was possible back then - Try and imagine wants coming...

You guys are too old :winkwink:
I remember our first family computer when I was 11 years old. ATX 486 50mhz 4mb ram(I upgraded to 8 and was in warp speed a couple of months after). We had windows 3.1 and Internet through netscape navigator 1. It was in 1994 :thumbsup |

Amazing that now you can buy that in a stick at the grocery store to hold a few gig's for under 50$
This is ad was from a simpler time -- when people didn't have shit to put on hard drives. Just "characters".
I've never seen one of those lol
lol if thats what computers were supposed to look like by 2004, we should have boat sized one by now

My uncle sold me a full height 5MB (megabytes, not gigabytes) hard drive a few years ago for $5, purely for curiosity really as I didn't have the correct interface for it. New, maybe in the late 1970s or early 1980s, it would have cost thousands.
