Hey Saints fans...

Your team is pathetic....

Story

Quote:

So the New Orleans Saints were dumb enough to continue a ?bounty? system even after the NFL investigated them once, after owner Tom Benson told general manager Mickey Loomis to have it stopped and, worst of all, long after it had stopped working.

On stupidity alone, the Saints deserve to lose their first-round draft pick this year ? except that they?ve already traded it to the New England Patriots. That shouldn?t stop commissioner Roger Goodell from taking a couple of picks this year or taking the 2013 first-rounder as the starting point for punishment.
-Payton suspended for one full season
-Mickey Loomis suspended 8 game and gets half million fine
-Saints are fined $500,000
-Saints lose second round pick in 2012 and 2012.

Greg Williams suspended indefinitely!

Haha fucking losers. How stupid can you be?

TisMe 03-21-2012 10:11 AM

They got hammered. A full season without Payton.

cosis 03-21-2012 10:15 AM

Ouch thats a punishment

Fletch XXX 03-21-2012 10:17 AM

Youre kidding right? Every sports team NFL bets who they can hurt lol starts in local parks as kids then through highscool football lol everybody knows they are being singled out but acting like all teams don't do this is naive

People watch football to see people get hurt

Mutt 03-21-2012 10:24 AM

i hate Greg Williams. I like Sean Payton a lot. we had Williams up in Buffalo as a head coach, he was a pompous dick who was out of his league as a head coach.

I don't remember anybody in NFL history being suspended indefinitely.

no they don't..

L-Pink 03-21-2012 10:31 AM

Isn't that just the writers opinion of what he thinks should happen. NOT what the NFL has decided if anything?

That must be the reason you watch it. I have never heard anyone even hint that was why they watched football.

Excuse me for saying this, but I doubt you played one down of organized football.

They decided, it's official.

beerptrol 03-21-2012 10:37 AM

The NFL laid the smackdown on their ass. Tebow traded to jets! What were they thinking

Only someone who isn't a real sports fan would say that.

They were offering paid bounties (cash) for whoever could hurt such and such player.

I need not defend myself considering the amount of articles written about this very thing. I shall quote ONE and move along...

The revelations were shocking and appalling to those outside the NFL: A team paid bounties to knock opponents out of the game, including some of football's biggest stars.

For those who suit up, however, it sounded more like the long-accepted cost of doing business in a brutal sport, a dirty little secret that everyone kept on the down low.

Atlanta Falcons star Roddy White called it a "league thing" that goes far beyond the New Orleans Saints. Shawne Merriman of the Buffalo Bills wondered what all the fuss was about, having long maintained he was targeted and sustained a career-altering injury. Former All-Pro guard Alan Faneca said he wasn't surprised at all that a sordid system had finally been exposed.

"It's a violent game we play. Whether people want to think about it or not, part of the game is to exert physical dominance over your opponent," Faneca, who retired after the 2010 season, told The Associated Press on Saturday. "If it results in a guy not finishing the game, then that's what happened in the course of playing the game."

Former NFL player Matt Bowen was the bluntest one of all.

"Bounties, cheap shots, whatever you want to call them, they are a part of this game," Bowen wrote Saturday in a column in the Chicago Tribune.
as I said, I dont even have to be a sports fan to know bounties have existed in sports well forever, so singling out one team is somewhat silly to outsiders who know how the game works.

:thumbsup

heres a little more to back me up

Quote:

When one of White's Twitter followers asked if he knew how much the Saints might've paid to knock him out of a game, he replied, "At least a million dollars."

Merriman, a three-time Pro Bowler, claims he was intentionally injured in 2007 while with the San Diego Chargers. in retaliation for hitting Tennessee quarterback Vince Young after a handoff. Merriman hasn't been the same dominating player since the knee injury.

"Why is this a big deal now? Bounties been going on forever," Merriman tweeted.

You fail to understand that the Saints were already warned about this and they went on doing it. And this is a commissioner who has publicly made it his primary goal to make the league safer for players (and more profitable for owners).

rogueteens 03-21-2012 10:58 AM

I didnt know that any of them played for Southampton!

that has nothing to do with anything ive said or posted...

dont shoot the messenger, all ive said in this thread is that all the teams do it. then i backed myself up... :thumbsup

thats it, all teams do this and will continue to do so for as long as sports exist. bounties are a huge part of NFL

now since ive proven my case i have no debate man

see my initial post

Whether it goes beyond the Saints or not it's a load of scumbaggery the NFL needs to stamp out immediately. Those involved so far seem to be getting what they deserved.

Sean Payton and a few others are lucky they don't all get 'indefinite' bans.

Bounties. More like sheer idiocy.

I disagree with this. The NFL came down hard on the Saints to set an example to other teams in hopes it will stop. You can't tell me that Payton losing 8 million bucks for this is not gonna put an end to it there.

Also, losing the 2nd round picks is a pretty big deal in a league like the NFL. The saints backup plan if Payton did get suspended was to have the GM come in and coach and now he is suspended. They are fucked.

Damn. The way I read the article I thought it was opinion but you are correct. He's gone for a year.

.

michael.kickass 03-21-2012 03:17 PM

A year! Wow, that's too much for any player in any sports.

L-Pink 03-21-2012 03:44 PM

Wow, 7.5 million a year contract. That will put a chink in the old checkbook.

Dude it's the head coach.

And the defensive coach may be out altogether.

Ha, tell that to the Broncos, the contract they just signed with Peyton Manning is for 90+ million dollars over 5 years.

stach14 03-22-2012 12:23 PM

Note for all other NFL teams running a bounty program... Dont keep 18,000 hard copy documents showing all the transactions, who got what, what the goals where and who the "extra" bonuses were for to knock out (Brett Farve, Cam Newton, etc)... Plain stupidity on men in charge.

Tom_PM 03-22-2012 12:30 PM

When I mentioned to a HUGE saints fan "well honestly they shouldnt be paying bonus on big hits in the first place", I was basically told they all do it.

Well, IMHO they all shouldn't do it. How about you do your job and your bonus is to keep your job? Tried and true, no BS.

L-Pink 03-22-2012 12:34 PM

Go Tampa Bay!

I don't watch it to see people get hurt. The business of football and winning at all costs is ruining the game. I watched a classic game the other day from over 10 years ago and it was much better than the games of today. It was about the game, not all the BS you have in today's games. The NFL is turning to trash.

PornMD 03-22-2012 10:17 PM

In the end, doesn't matter, won Super Bowl.

Nice to see the NFL didn't fuck around though. Those penalties are thoroughly deserved.

Gator 03-22-2012 10:28 PM

I believe other teams have done it too, which is pretty low life IMO. The Saints are the ones that got caught, that's why they were punished. Just like when you get pulled over by a cop and you weren't the only one speeding. It doesn't mean it's OK then. What's worse is you have guys making millions and $1,500 motivates them to hurt other players? Bunch of a-holes.
