They don't. You are just uninformed.

PR_Glen 03-20-2012 10:05 AM

they bring in more foreign business than he does ;)

lucas131 03-20-2012 10:11 AM

money reported is not money earned :)

Because someone thinks they're worth it, and because "serving the public" is considered it's own reward.

NBA players hit their target 45% of the time. The president is on target 2% of the time.

Then again, Clinton scored more often than the Celtics did in 1996.

That said, the president made over seven million dollars in the least two years. That's more than most NBA players.

from the time they are young, talented basketball players are scouted and watched, pitted against each other, and honed into elite athletes. They are chosen as candidates for something better and given special training, sent to camps, stretched, and taught how to make a jump shot. As they get older, they go from being among hundreds of thousands of good players, to being among the few thousand elite players, they then train hard for years while getting a good education before finally being chosen as the best of the best. Kind of like Triple X or the GI Joe's were. they are truly the best at what they do.

Your political parties choose a few dudes who they think will be popular with the people, and watch them argue on TV over who'd wife looks older. Then you chose one to be president and wonder why everything doesn't get fixed overnight.

the mentality of candidates should give it away every time. Basketball players respect and hug their peers from opposing teams before the game, go out and bust their ass, and the one who performs wins.

In politics, in the last few decades at least, people stopped trying to win, they think it is better to make sure the other guy looses by spilling the beans about every bad thing he has ever done, and talking about how stupid he is and how bad of a choice he is, then they just flash an image of themselves holding a baby across the screen and grab a bunch of votes.

It's sad, but most basketball players deserve more than the president. Maybe it won't always be that way.

Because the president is basically a civil servant. His salary is pretty high for that line of work.

Ballers are involved in a business in which millions of dollars are on the line.

MovieMaster 03-20-2012 11:29 AM

His money comes in the form of bribes, pay offs and future under the table deals after office.

baryl 03-20-2012 11:30 AM

Basketball players aren't paid with tax dollars.

Would it be fair if a player brought in millions in revenue for a team and got paid minimum wage?

D Ghost 03-20-2012 11:38 AM

Because the president is a public service position. And so are all other government positions. And as mentioned above, the salaries of the government officials isn't really why they took office. All the sweetheart and backdoor deals, etc are where they really make their loot.

NBA is a private business.

TisMe 03-20-2012 11:42 AM

Because they had a better year :)

Yep. When Clinton left office he was basically broke. He had spent all of their money on lawyers defending himself for getting a blowjob. Within eight years of leaving office he had made around $75 million and still makes over $100K just to show up and give a speech.

Besides its dumb question in itself, another level of dumb is - why did you specified only basketball players (not baseball, football, hockey, american football..)

It was only a matter of time before the racial component made it into the discussion. Nice observation.

Presidents make millions of dollars in speeches after they are done with office. Over 100k per speech. Plus you can make tons of money doing insider trading which is legal for politicians. Bill Clinton is worth 80 million.
