Does any web browser have trouble displaying .png files?
Its, 2012... Does any web browser have trouble displaying .png files?
Just want to make sure. |
Most show them correctly these days unless they're using a shitty browser that doesn't support it like Netscape 4 and earlier without Quicktime plugins for it or IE4 or earlier for Mac OSX..
If that's the case, chances are that they can't afford what you're selling to them either.. Edit: http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/pngstatus.html#browsers |

ironically, gif is a non recommended file type for mobile use, and .png is prefered.
PNG is much more recommended than even gif. |

It's not just an issue of displaying the .png, but how it affects other elements around it.
For example, IE 6 has a bug that prevents hyperlinks being clicked if they are laid over a transparent png background, requiring sophisticated scripting to swap a gif placeholder and use z-order stacking. Folks with fancy backgrounds that didn't bother to do real-world cross-browser testing may have missed the fact that a major market segment couldn't click their site's links... |
I'm having a problem with a transparent PNG's in IE8 on a jQuery animation, very weird stuff, but i haven't properly debugged it yet. All other transparent PNG's display fine, but the animation ones. I'll prolly fix it though when i get to it.
