stupid much? the first game in NBA history played in Maple Leaf Gardens between the New York Knicks and the Toronto Huskies.

"The Basketball Association of America was founded in 1946 by owners of the major ice hockey arenas in the Northeastern and Midwestern United States and Canada. On November 1, 1946, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the Toronto Huskies hosted the New York Knickerbockers at Maple Leaf Gardens, which the NBA now regards as the first game played in the league's history."

Probably the same reason everything is 'world' this and 'world' that when it is only being played in one place........

Lichen 03-19-2012 03:40 PM

I always wonder that myself, pretty dumb to label someone world champions when they only beat teams in their own country. To piss you off more Bryan, I'm going to call Celtic World Champions after next weekend at Ibrox! :thumbsup

baryl 03-19-2012 05:01 PM

Well MLB is without any question the top baseball league in the world so the winner of that is the 'world champion' team.
They have a separate baseball world cup that Japan basically dominates but even the best players from the Japanese national team play for MLB teams.

If they start calling major league soccer a world championship, then yeah, that would be stupid.

Does any U.S. city even want the Raptors?

Of course, if the Craptors moved to the States and were owned by people who cared as much about sports as they did about milking every cent out of idiots, maybe the team could attract some real players and actually win a game.

Shit team, shit organization.
