Mabye it's something about being just a Keyboard monkey and moving down the food chain. haha.

Yeah know what you mean. One of my good mates knows this industry inside out and could program his way out of Jail cell with a calculator, yet he is usually employed :)

Suppose I just like being able to nurse a hangover occasionally past 9am.

Cheers!

synapse 02-09-2003 02:43 PM

Well that's one of teh great things about our environment ... (no not irresponsible drinking though that happens too) ... we have some people who perfer early morning starts and some who perfer late starts ... we have room for 'em all here :)

Rich 02-09-2003 02:46 PM

I can do all those things except the hahahahahahahahahaha part, dang. :glugglug

It's not nearly as hard as geting a green card ... we've actually helped 3 people come down-under from the USA and Canada ... sure it's parerwork and all but so long as you don't have some horrible disease it's easy for someone in the IT industry.

synapse 02-09-2003 06:33 PM

bump ...

Ashley-CashMountain 02-09-2003 06:43 PM

I'm moving down to melbourne in july...nice to see that there are some smutpeddlers down in victoria, though everyone was in brisbane...

Joe Sixpack 02-10-2003 12:28 AM

Hey how much does it cost you other Aussies to deposit a cheque and which bank do you use?

Heritage Building Society just upped its fee from $7.50 to $10.00 a cheque.

bhutocracy 02-10-2003 12:33 AM

I get fairly ripped at ANZ - $30 but you can put 4 cheques for that price.

There's a few of us down here but definetly not as many as up north ... bell me sometime (ICQ 2979146) and we can catch up over a drink.

rowan 02-10-2003 12:35 AM

Bank of Melb - $10 for up to 4 cheques negotiated in the same currency (immediate conversion and clearance), but they can be anal about anything larger than chicken feed. I'm a regular there so I don't have (m)any problems now. I usually wait and deposit 4 at a time so effectively they cost $2.50 each.

If you're outside of Victoria, BoM are owned by Westpac, they may offer the same deal.

Otherwise it's $35 for collection, up to 4 cheques and around 6 weeks clearance.

CBA were doing o/s cheques for $7 last time I banked there, they'll negotiate anything up to $5000 and will place a 28 day hold on the funds. I only used CBA until BoM stopped being anal. :winkwink:

Just came from the CBA, they have changed to $10 per cheque :feels-hot . I've found CBA best for wires though....

The best value ive found in brisbane is the CBA at Ashgrove used to be 7 but is now 10 but the only charge u for the first cheque..... so cash 10 or so cheques at a time....

I'm amazed you guys put up with that shit!

Costs me $5 with suncorp/metway and sometimes the funds are available within a few days! :thumbsup

What do you do with those small cheques you get from sponsors you trialed and didn't continue with? I got a $35 cheque the other day and if I had to pay $10 or so to bank It I would have been PISSED!

It went up to $10 a cheque a couple of weeks ago at CBA, the only reason I stick with them is that they clear my cheques straight away

For the last three years i get a cheque everymonth from a mainstream sponser $3.54, they just go in the bin.

Wildman 02-10-2003 05:16 AM

I bank the small cheques in a credit union....7 weeks to clear, but no fees involved.

I checked the other day and I had $20k in there....soon adds up!
