I just got the new SimCity4... I've been a SimCity fan since when it first came out so it's tradition that every time there is a new version that I become uninvolved with the world for a short period of time...

I'd love to try that one out. I love games with that kind of scale. I thought Black & White was great... Mayor isn't quite as cool as God. ;)

Cool looking game but they really need to work on the graphics optimizations... only thing I've seen run that slow on a 2Ghz Geforce 4 based system :)

Unfortunately, I can relate well with you. Everytime there is an Age of Empires or WarCraft update, all my business stops for at least a week. :thumbsup

Are you kidding? That game is week old ass marinated in the blood of small children, cooked on one of those public grills with all that gunk hanging off the bars, and served on plates made from human skin. I will contain within my being a pure, perfect hatred for it, wrapped inside of me, where it will be covered in a filament like a pearl. And the filament, in order to endure the sheer force of my hate, will have to be so strong that once the final star collapses beyond the Schwarzchild Radius into a black hole and all of creation is an endless void, my hate will still exist as one point of light. Pure, radiant, and emanating from it will be my hate for Black and White until infinity itself becomes a blink of an eye.

Beat it eventually, it was just a very poorly crafted game that looked nice but played terribly. Didn't help that I was reformatting my drives every week back then and had to replay the first few missions 500 fucking times. Ambition > grasp.

Fucking thing froze up and died twice...

I'm on a p4 2.53ghz with a Matrox Parahelia.... I turned off 2 of my three 19" monitor displays just in case. Beats the shit out of me.

There's two main tactics in Simcity4 to help prevent mass money lossage

1) The game is truly designed for regional play....you should have a few surrounding cities to help support your main city

2) Things like power plants drain your money like mad at the start...just start off using a few wind powered plants. Or even better setup another city next to you with a power plant and then sell the electricity to your main city...then you have as much energy as you need but only spend what you use and no worries about facility maintanance.

I'm a little hooked on the game too =)
