Got a letter from the IRS today regarding my 2010 takes (which have been done and paid).

When they reported what they paid me, they missed a decimal point! So now they gov't thinks they paid me $XX,XXX when in actuality I made $XXX.XX

Yep just one. I was like WTF but when I checked the 1099 I saw where the mistake was. All same digits so that decimal was missed (I hope) by accident

I didn't think that was the "top notch" way to go. If it seemed more sinister than a missing decimal, yeah I would blast em, after getting in their shit personally first.

This seems like a simple fix - I'll know once I talk to the tax preparer this week.

nah, they're not talking audit (yet) and the letter gives me options to dispute it. I got the proper documents to back it up. they ain't getting a dime extra from me
