Is Joomla similar to Wordpress?

I feel kinda silly that i do not know, but there's so much stuff around these days, i kinda stayed with old school programs;-)

we have our own cms...but i used joomla for one site...and i like it

our programmer doesnt..lol

Never got my head round Joomla. Prefer WordPress, seems more natural. MODX CMS is also good.

So many jobs I've looked at want Joomla, Drupal, Magento experience.

I was using Joomla years ago and while I liked it the learning curve for the average user was to great, it feels very bloated and moved on to using other things. Loads of mainstream companies use it and I guess some adult sites as well, but for the most part it's all wordpress for me now.

I'm a Magento expert i guess. I created more than 40 stores with that since 2008. That's how i came across Joomla, there seem to be a lot of similarities.

P&J i got that warning too, did not see that prior to posting.

Agreed. I have built two sites for clients with it and its a pain. Plus u need dedicated hosting for Joomla to run right. It's such a resource hog. I do like some features, but I'd rather go Wordpress. Never used Drupal.
