MMA Question

I was just watching the recent Strikeforce on Showtime. In the main event one girl got the other in an armbar and clearly dislocated/destroyed her elbow. I would guess that girl is going to need surgery to repair the damage and likely physical therapy. Does the promoter of the event have to pay for that or is the fighter responsible for that?

Obamacare has it covered. No worries.

Some events, they have paid for our medical coverage. Other events, they have not. A couple of fights ago, I fought for the heavyweight championship, and after I lost, I had $6,000 in hospital bills from it. That promotion did NOT cover the fees, incidentally.

In 9 fights, I've been hurt only once, so I figure that generally the risk has been worth the reward.

UFC covers all their fighters:

Yeah, but only a very small fraction of fighters end up in promotions like that.

Connor Huen had his arm broken, and won the fight.
