I got those results by using position checker so it's two sources seeing this.Also,international versions of google still showing as it was before.

there was a definite panda update this weekend (seems to be confirmed as much by the google blog.) look at the first two pages for "porn". they used to be all adult sites (tubes) now they half of them are mainstream and news sites. something big changed for sure.

yes all adult sites off the first page for "sex" just one for "xxx". two world terms seem the same.

They update, tweak, test etc all the time. Results from ambiguous words/phrases which have multiple menaings change all the time. From data center to data center results can be different at any given moment. There is typically nothing significant in waking up one day and seeing wildly different results for a single word phrase with mainstream and adult meanings.

Again, that's also been happening for quite a few years as well. Just as "teen sex" bounces back and forth between porn and news and articles about "teen sex".

I do see often mainstream results bumped into porn keywords but situation like this was only once back in 2006.

it's happening more and more. It looks like porn results are gradually filtered out for these kind of one word keywords. For example it happened to 'cunt' months ago, and also other words where i used to compete with with my porn sites. Not anymore because i've seen this coming.

For me I see 3 porn sites in the top 10 for the keyword pussy.

I've only ever gained traffic with each Panda update. People need to chill...always see end of the world statements when they make a few changes.

I don't know, for "porn" just now I get all actual porn sites on the first page (including Orgasm.com of course!) except for one mainstream, Wikipedia in position #9. "Pussy" is about 50/50 adult and mainstream, but top couple sites for me are adult. Unless that is a location thing because I am in Canada.

This hit one of my blogs very hard. Was pretty consistent at about 2,000 se visits per day up until Feb 24th. Yesterday 488 se visits. WTF?

3 1/2 year old blog dedicated to 1 sponsor site. 366 hand written 175 - 300 word posts. Updated regularly, mostly 2 new posts per week.

With each new big Panda update this blog gets hit pretty hard every time, but seems to come back about a month later each time. This is the biggest drop of any update. I will wait a month and see what happens.

Google Responds: It?s SafeSearch To Blame

Postscript (10:30 AM ET): Google has sent this statement:

We make more than 500 changes to our algorithms in a typical year, and with each of those changes sites will shuffle to different positions in our search results. We have not manually taken action to change the ranking of the site.

Postscript 2 (12:45 PM ET): Google tells me this is related to its improved SafeSearch algorithm, one of the other changes that was just announced. There?s no explanation yet about about why Spreading Santorum got hit while the Urban Dictionary page did not.

Postscript 3 (7:00 PM PT): Google says that the change even impacts results if you have SafeSearch set to off. In other words, even if you turn SafeSearch off ? and should get no adult content filtered out ? adult content may still be filtered out. That?s pretty weird.

The best I can think is that if you go back to what Google posted about the SafeSearch change:

We have updated how we deal with adult content, making it more accurate and robust. Now, irrelevant adult content is less likely to show up for many queries.

Seems to be across the board on this particular blog. One word and longer tail.

Was #5 - 6 for the sponsors one word site name/domain, now off the first 10 pages. But that word (site name) only accounted for 100 or so visits per day. It has never done too well with any other 1 word terms, or even 2 word terms, but always pulled allot of 3+ word terms ie: (model name + terms) and (terms + model name) and (site name + terms), etc.

Yeah, I noticed this when I wanted to have a quick wank the other night. I didn't feel like checking to see what was on page two so I just rubbed one out while reading an op-ed piece from the NYT.

When the mainstream sites listed for 'cunt' and other adult terms have a bounce rate of 90%+ from organic traffic as surfers leave to look for porn in other ways, the listings will likely normalize on their own... but a site like urbandictionary may not have as high a bounce on those terms and may be benefiting quite a bit. Congrats to them...

First of all, a lot of people see different results, and it will only get more and more like that in the future. So whatever you see, other people might see completely different results based on their location, search history, etc.

In addition, most google traffic for single word porn keywords is pretty useless. The only people typing in single words like sex in google are people from third world and other poor countries.

People from developed countries usually use multiple search phrases. They won't just type sex in google. Only kids, arabs, eastern europeans and asians do that.
