magazines are so 2005 :2 cents:

Looks good. Just pre-ordered.

Upscale quarterlies/bi-monthlies are actually an emerging trend.
Both as magazine upsells and website companions.

This one has personal favorite for several years.

Fletch XXX 02-25-2012 06:33 AM

Wrong unless you're talking about fashion magazines. Industry ad edit ratios are always around 50/50.

cherrylula 02-25-2012 06:55 AM

Yeah they'll sell lots of ad space for sure.

lol omg semantics over an actual 5% margin of error? LOL

its common that mags are 65% ads. some are more than that. yes many are 50/50 not going to debate 5-10% when so many magazines have more than 50

65% is 30% more than 50% so that's actually quite a big difference.

65/30 is rare outside of fashion. I worked in media planning/negotiating for about 10 years with a specialty in print and the only time I can recall 65/30 type ratios ever being prevalent outside of fashion was back in the 'dot-com era'. Industry Standard went from monthly to bi-weekly and it was like 70/30 ad to edit. Every issue was thick as a fucking book.

On the other hand, some magazines don't even differentiate between advertising and editorial. The best way to spot those is if their unqualified circulation is disproportionately high when compared to their qualified (paid) circ. Case in point. This magazine is pretty much one big advertorial.

I not only purchasing a subscription, I am supporting the WordPress community.

Currently, I am busy making WordPress sites for medium size businesses. I want to take it to the next level.
