Gas prices are crazy ......

Last year at this time it was $3.24 a gallon and today it's $3.69 I remember when gas was only $1.00 a gallon.

:helpme

I have a Jetta and sucks the fuck out of gas.

PR_Glen 02-24-2012 10:01 AM

Isn't a lot of the difference taxes?

.

Jacob[Soft] 02-24-2012 10:10 AM

sure, prises are increasing, may be because of price for oil

DWB 02-24-2012 10:11 AM

I ride a Yamaha scooter. I spend about $3 - $5 a week if I spend a lot of time on it.

bronco67 02-24-2012 10:16 AM

My next car will get over 30 mpg. I'm tired of my gas guzzler -- it hurts to see the price when I fill the tank.

Currently lookin at this one.

They discontinued the Hybrid, but this one supposedly gets around 36mpg.

NaughtyRob 02-24-2012 10:17 AM

Every year it starts climbing about now, climbs more in the spring and summer then tops out when most people are traveling around driving a lot.

CaptainHowdy 02-24-2012 10:18 AM

Find something cheaper to huff ...

I have a Jetta and sucks the fuck out of gas.

I remember when gas was less than a dollar. My grandmother, back in the 1960s, used to buy a gallon of gas for ten cents and got a Matchbox car each time she filled up her tank. She collected the entire collection for multiple years, which she gave to me. I have them all, brand new. Some of them are worth a ton.

You have a Jetta? Don't complain. I've got a twenty year old jacked up 4x4 with 33 inch tires.

femdomdestiny 02-24-2012 10:19 AM

While you were riding for 1 buck per gallon, most of world was paying something per 1 liter.

Rochard 02-24-2012 10:20 AM

Oh, I should add gas is going up because of the shit with Iran. You know, because that has a huge impact on the US getting it's gas from Canada and Mexico.

u-Bob 02-24-2012 10:20 AM

expect a huge increase a couple of months from now... (summer time)

Poor you having to pay $3.69 lol. I'm Scottish but live in Canada, we pay $5 a gallon here, I'm going home to Scotland next week so I'll take a picture of the rental car I booked and then a picture of how much a tank of gas costs to fill it. Let's see if $3.69 still feels like a lot of money to you then... just a heads up, in Scotland it is almost $11 a gallon.

Again, isn't the big price difference because of taxes not the price of oil?

.

Jel 02-24-2012 11:17 AM

L-Pink - Yes.

Ross - isn't it more like $9 a gallon? London here, and it's $8.21 per gallon.

AllAboutCams 02-24-2012 11:27 AM

i paid $1.60 per LT her today

We see a spike at the pump because Iran controls (or more accurately, attempts to control) the Strait of Hormuz. Their threats over one of the most important international shipping lanes will send prices higher, but it's an issue that's ultimately separate from the question of the Iranian oil supply. In this case, Iran doesn't need to export jack shit in order to impact the oil market.

Europe will be more directly affected, which is the reason that Greece was trying to stop sanctions. They can't afford higher energy prices, although Britain and France can.

LAJ 02-24-2012 11:31 AM

It's still cheaper in the US than in places throughout Europe and Australia.

xholly 02-24-2012 11:32 AM

thats sooo cheap.

$1.50 litre here

It doesn't matter where the US gets gas from because it's a global economy. When there are supply shortages or price driven up by speculation, the entire supply chain raises the price.

That's when the economy tanked and deflation brought the prices down. Then, Uncle Ben started printing and we can see what happened.

i dont get it... having almost the cheapest gas on the whole planet, the cheapest prices for cars as well (ask dutch or scandinavian people about that), driving ridiculus huge useless cars (who really needs a Navigator, F150 or the like) but still complaining...

get a Passat TDI and you have enough space for the whole family and do like 55 mpg

shimmy2 02-24-2012 01:29 PM

$5 per gallon of gas here is the norm. but most people dont buy gas they have propane tanks mounted in their trunks and theres more propane stations than actual gas stations. its a more common fuel because people use it to cook with their gas stoves at home due to all the frequent power outtages

keysync 02-24-2012 02:33 PM

I bought the land yacht because I pull large trailers and am constantly taking short road trips with 6 or 7 people.
I like my land yacht.
I just wish gas was 97 cents a gallon like it was when I graduated high school.

ContentPimp 02-24-2012 02:47 PM

'gas' is cheap in the usa and canada. prices are 50% more per gallon in the eu so stop bitchin and complaining eh
