A Way to Avert War: Waddya Think?
 

Here's a thought......how much do they estimate a war with Iraq would cost? Something like 25 billion dollars, plus another 40 to 50 billion a year after Saddam is overthrown.

So, how about this...instead of wasting all that money, why don't we just buy Iraq? Shit, how much could it cost to buy? 20 billion, 30 billion (I haven't checked EBAY recently)? Buy it, then turn it into a gigantic desert gambling oasis, like Las Vegas on steroids. Saddam no idealist...just a greedy demagogue...he'd probably take 20 billion.

One of the options on the table was a US offer in which we would arrange to relocate Saddam Hussein outside of Iraq. A sort of luxury exile. Powell said they'd be willing to work something out in order to avoid a war.

I'd love to be able to take a peek inside Saddam's mind. He's got to see that he will never win a direct military conflict against the US. What the fuck is he planning on doing?

It really wouldnt cost that much for a war. The money is being spent on military reguardless. If they are on a training mission or if they are destroying Iraq the military is being used one way or the other.
