Which brand of Mini DV Tapes do you use?

Content people.... what brand of tapes do you prefer shooting with? I like Fuji personally. Im looking to buy a couple hundred tapes (Bulk). Which tapes are the best?

Looks like a good deal but not sure about panasonic.

Most of the ones I use are about the same in quality: Sony, Fuji, and Maxell.... The only one I didnt care for was the JVC.

A bit of advice: Don't use Panasonic MiniDV tapes in a Sony.

Sorry forgot to add that I have litterally used hundreds of the SONY DVM60PR2's. In bulk you can get them for like 4 bucks each. In a pinch I have used a few of the JVC and TDK with no problems either.

I just bought 50 off the guy. Looks like a good deal but we'll see I guess.

I rock mad Fuji's, yo.

Or whatever is cheapest when I need some en route to a shoot... actually, I need to start doing more video..

We've used 100's of Panasonics with no trouble. They all seem good. We just bought some Sonys at Fry's for 1.99, but you can't get bulk.

Street discount price is around $3. Try Ecost.com

The tapes are fine, it's what the tapes do to the heads on your sony camcorder. (leaves crud on them) But this was almost 2 years ago, maybe Panasonic uses different materials now.

Thank's for the heads up on ecost, I'll check them out. Wish we had a Fry's around here :(

I need to stock up for Spring. :)

Hey man...Just pick a decent tape and use it consistantly. From what I have been told....Different tapes use different lubricants and that mixing these is what can creat the crud build up.

I do not know how much truth there is to that but I use the same brand of tape, every time, in 2 different Sony cameras and I have never seen a drop in quality.

Exactly, that's what we've been doing for the past 2 years using just sony tapes unless I am in a pinch.
