Ak-12 sounds like a little bastard child of the 47. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Kalashnikov had nothing to do with the development of this rifle.

I'm waiting for the ak-48 lol
I bought a shit Olympic BBM chambered to .22 at christmas for a personal reason, thing is the bloody thing is crap (and fucking orange). Jams on every 3rd or 4th round and the barrel must have been reamed with a toilet brush as it has a range of about 3 feet. Probably as good as a saiga ak-47 |

So...basically everything that the AR/M16 platform has had since it's inception. Way to play catch up! :thumbsup And yet, it's still a folded metal piece of shit. |

You mean other than the article stating the same thing? "The factory which developed the new rifle decided to stick with the classic layout of the AK-47, even though it is a completely new weapon." |

It looks like they put the AR15 style rail system on this AK. About time. |

It's a fun gun to shoot and you don't need to be assed with cleaning it every time. Just spray it with some WD-40 and put it back in storage. The WASR 10/63 are getting harder to get a hold of and the price has gone up about $150 in just the past year. |
coming soon to iranians

Yes, AK's are more reliable but in order to accomplish this, they are made a lot looser. Meaning they are sloppy and considerably less accurate. AK's are also not held to the same specifications, again because they are typically built sloppy. In some aspects, an AR can take a hell of a lot more abuse. For example, if you drop an AR from standing height, you are not going to risk breaking it. On the flip side, two weeks ago I was messing around with an the AK Slide Fire stock and one of the AK's fell over while leaning against a wall. It put a small dent in the receiver cover and after that, the gun would not cycle correctly. You can throw both guns in the mud and then they will both shoot. The difference is the AK will now be full of mud where the AR is built tight enough to not even let the mud in. Full auto AK's are great in the jungle when you want to throw a lot of lead and don't care about accuracy. In the semi-automatic world, I'll take an AR over an AK any day of the week. There have been "AR15" style rails available for the AK for the last decade. Nothing new about that. Lastly, I can't stand the way an AK shoots. It's a matter of personal opinion. |

If that were true then you would see a lot more AK's being used in 3Gun than AR's. The average AK will not pull MOA at 100 yards. The average AR is capable of Sub-MOA at the same distance. |

The whole reason you choose an AK-47 is because of the legendary reliability and the ability to shoot any ammo available.
So logically, there would be no reason to switch to a new AK since that negates the whole reason you are shooting an AK in the first place, which is because it's proven. So until this gun has been out for years and combat proven, there is no reason to get one over a proven AK-47. Plus, you can buy aftermarket parts for AK-47's that gives it most of the features of this new gun like rails and the ability to add tactical accessories. |
