Have Adobe dropped Fireworks?

I just noticed there is no CS5.5.

Its shame if they do, PS is overkill for most of the things I do and I prefer to just use Fireworks for day to day stuff....

Fireworks lol last time i used fireworks my definition of filters was the alien skin plugin :Oh crap.

Anyway, fireworks 5.1 comes with 5.5 master suite. That update came around june or july of last year, too soon to update fw again.

FlexxAeon 02-12-2012 12:20 AM

once they moved "save for web" into PS that was pretty much the end of fireworks for me.

Yeah, but it was not upgraded to 5.5 like the rest of the Master Suite. They just included the 5 version.

Edit: Wrong Thread.....

NaughtyRob 02-12-2012 10:47 AM

I still use Fireworks for some stuff like animated .gifs

fris 02-12-2012 11:53 AM

they didnt drop it, no major changes through in the 5.5 creative suite.

fris 02-12-2012 11:54 AM

they did drop imageready which a lot of designers used in the past

XD2 02-12-2012 11:56 AM

I have fireworks 5.1 as part of my Web Premium but I honestly don't think I have ever used it, or looked at it. Use PS for Web Images and used to use Image ready for Gifs.

Didn't they just move all the functionality into Photoshop?

ya i used imageready to resize animated gifs, but since they stop making that, fireworks can do that if you werent aware, just load, and resize.

Thanks for the heads up I will take a look, I really should probably use more of the software I am paying for in any case :upsidedow

sojproductions 02-12-2012 12:14 PM

its still useful for animated gifs, but that is literally the only one thing I can think of that its good for!

same here, i bought creative suite master collection, but the only programs i have used, are photoshop, media encoder, and flash, i only started using fireworks cause someone on here mentioned the resizing feature.

Bump from another Fireworks fan. I agree that for graphics design for the web its much faster and easier to use than Photoshop. I guess its days are numbered but as long as I have my original install discs this will always be my number 1 image editing choice.

The Fireworks batch tool kicks serious butt

NaughtyRob 02-20-2014 08:33 AM

Wow 2 yr old thread bump. I used Fireworks since 2001 but yeah its gone, you gotta use an old version.

crockett 02-20-2014 11:23 AM

I always used fireworks for my web design, it was always more user friendly and having vector tools was great. Not to mention FW was awesome when doing text and logos. I haven't used any of the new versions of PS but I always felt much more comfortable with FW over PS.

CS5 is ancient at this point too.

Fireworks is not part of the Creative Cloud Master Suite (which is basically CS7).

Just noticed the old thread bump. Got me.

I have the Creative Cloud set up right now and am looking at Fireworks CS6 as we speak.

Are we talking about different things?

Also, would you mind sending me a screenshot of your Plex settings screen for the buffer and whatnot?
