Do you think the US' has reached its Golden Age or do you think its best days still lie ahead of it?

Here's a clue: millions of people the world over still want to make their dreams come true in the US. If that isn't a vote of confidence regarding the American system for self-advancement and vision-fulfillment, I don't know what is.

Is is just a question of getting a differing perspective so as to find the will to do the Big Things that need to be fixed?

America is in the beginning stages of a long downward spiral.

There is too many important things that are fucked up in the US at the moment to believe it's gonna move it the right direction any time soon.
With the political system being rigged the way it is, and the influence money plays in the election cycle, it will take a revolution to fix things.
It's too far gone to fix it at this point...

People want to come to the USA because:

they are the worlds biggest user of oil so they are very reliant on it - just like every single other country in the world. what does your country use currently ?

a fitting solution for the west would be stepping back from excessive consumption and practice a little self-restraint and respect for our resources as a whole. Not that much though, people still need to maintain a comfortable life, but also need to keep every spending more reasonable, mapping what you really need and what is just a bloated display of human greed. this is something asia's way ahead of the western world, be it the americas or europe.

I think America is going through a phase where all the nastiness and greed is coming out in everyone.
There's no unified feeling anymore.
This is a country firmly divided and it's getting worse.
In 100 years or however long it takes for us to suck all the oil out of the rest of the world we'll start to develop the resources on our own land and then you will see the people from the countries that have been paid by our government to get their oil coming here to take the oil we have as we have done to them.
It's not yet begun to get ugly.

the usa is no longer the big cheese. we have now china and india. both with there opwn space rockets and stuff.

you cannot live in the past.

the next 'microsoft' or 'ford' or 'intel' may come from china, india or even african nations.

the usa has to change, so does the uk.

the uk has sold much off.

to be honest at the moment china is the big cheese.

usa and uk are skint.

in the next few years you will see more and more chinease and indian cars on the roads.

china has problems though as people now want to be paid as much as say in the uk.

also people now want to spend money in china. up to now people have put the money in the bank, but china lent it all to the usa. so if people start to pull money out of there chinease bank accounts, they will have problems.

They've said China is the one to watch the last 5 years. I don't see them any bigger now, then they were then.

how is the US going to get better? :2 cents: what makes people think this? the jobs are gone to china, the country is in debt up to it ears, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer...

radical change is needed to get the US back on track I'm afraid....
