SEO in the PANDA Age: Brand building in Google

If your stuff got PANDALIZED since February of last year, look into BRAND building as your way out.

Check out this resource: http://searchenginewatch.com/article...ding-on-Google

My Haters: please do your life's purpose and bump this with hater messages I won't read so more people can read this thread and possibly benefit from it.

We need a boner button

I'm on your side with this. Since matty-matt made a comment post panda regarding "being more like Apple" I've been focused more on building brands.

baddog 02-04-2012 11:02 PM

I would venture to say this has been true long before February, 2011 or Panda.

There was a rep system...But bad administration removed it.

You don't think things like YouTube and branding have been beneficial to SEO for a lot longer than Feb 2011? Or am I misunderstanding

of course. but pre-panda you could keyword your way to the top, without branding or reputation.

i mean...i agree with your original statement but it was somewhat obvious. like if the point was being made that a faster loading site was better for SEO. one would 'venture' to say that it's always been true

Organizing all the recent SEO blog/roundtable findings regarding bounce rate, specific niche/theme social bookmarking, and contextual internal linking under the rubric of branding makes much more sense. Also, it fits in G's other announcement regarding fresh content preferences. Tracking these together, there seems to be a rough correlation regarding the most recent Panda tweaks.

I think panda just made it obvious to those that had not noticed before.

branding and innovation have always been the way to go. but on the internet - and doubly true in adult internet - spam, shortcuts, gimmicks, tricks are the path most of us choose. and as long as G allowed it, it was game on

Cliffnotes: Cheap spun $5 submissions don't cut it in the post Panda world, actually they never did in any case. Cheap links, cheap content, crap spun shit was all doomed to failure.

The OP is a perfect example, he grabs articles on SEO, posts links to them and then tries to make out he knows what he's talking about.

Just like SEO Hosting, Link Building and Spinning content it's all going to fuck you in the end. SEO Hosting provides a "benefit" based on a myth that unscrupulous people try to profit from. Mass Link building generally puts up a 50 foot sign to Google saying look at me I'm spamming the fuck out of this site and Spinning content is the lazy, two bit, fuckwit driven way to fill a site with content for ads.

The Internet, specifically the web cannot sustain these practices and Google can't either. Google needs to reduce the size of the web that it takes notice of and the high quality, engaging, original, socially shared content will win out every time.

For most "Adult Webmasters" and "Internet Marketers" creating fresh, original, engaging content is like hard work and that's just too hard for most. Splogs etc are much easier. Automation and churning out hundreds of sites used to be easy and once worked. Well not anymore. Google sent a giant message with the Farmer/Panda updates and those that haven't taken heed will die like the dinosaurs they are.
