usa comedy

From time to time I like to watch old shows on say utube such as taxi and the cosby show and so on.

Its strange how its sad to watch them as its like lookinh at a relative who has died as you loved the shows.

but its strange as i can watch uk old comedy such as rising damp and so on, which i also love, but i find i just can watch uk comedy and enjoy them.

its somthing unique i have noticed about usa comedy is that you seem to get to know the characters as part of the family.

i watched the cosby show last night on youtube and forgot how much i loved it.

the show i watched last night was the thanksgiving one where bill has to keep going out to the shops.

it also has the super cute kid in. its odd to think she will be about 30 now.

my all time fave is cheers.

i do love usa comedy, but i do not like the stand up as it never seems very good. also usa scetch shows never seem much. i have watched satady live clips and they were ok, but not great.

but the comerdy shows i do love, even the ones i bet you think suck such as the golden girls (i thought was great).

married with children is also a fave.

As for stand up I think Andy Kaufman was probably the closest to a brit stand up.

Had he still lived I suspect if he had come to the UK he would have been a bigger hit, as that type of odd comerdy works in the UK while I think a lot in the usa may not have got it, or he may have had to restrain himself a bit.

In the uk he could have gone way further.

UK comedy is all about the laughs - Rising Damp is a great example - You will never fall in love with 'Rigsby'....

US comedy is about the characters - You relate to them and see the comparisons with your own life.
