Computer nerds, tell me if this is possible.

I'm working on a 4 screen setup. I'm gonna SLI 2 cards.
I will have 3 screens in front of my and one on the right of me.
For work use all of them will display whatever (stats, photoshop etc) but when i play a game i want the game use just the 3 in front of me.
Is this possible without manually changing the screen settings everytime i switch from working to gaming. If you know what i mean...

If nothing else, bat file. Say the magic words "bat file" to your favorite Windows geek and it's one click to switch.

On Linux I could tell you EXACTLY how to automate it but it's been nearly a decade since I banned Windows from the premises.

just get a 30" display

it's big enough for work and gaming

(with one card though) my nvidia utility used to allow me to save a "profile" for gaming - screen settings, resolution, etc - and would fire the profile whenever it saw i was about to start the game. if the two cards you have are same brand....?

Yeah ofcourse i'm gonna get the same brand. So that would not change anything if i'm correct. Did the software that comes with it allow you to do that?

i see - thought you said you already had it set up - my bad

yeah this was the straight driver+utility download from their support site. one card though like i said, but after i set up the profile, my #2 monitor would be the one it selected for play instead of the default #1. so i imagine you could do the same for more than 2

Ok, well it might take some tweaking but i guess it's possible. That's what i needed to know.

grumpy 02-01-2012 03:28 PM

you can create profiles

Deej 02-01-2012 03:40 PM

i know this dosnt help... but check this out...

skip to 48 seconds if you dont want to watch the dude talk. Hes a gamer that rocks a 3 monitor setup.

this thread reminds of his intro and how much I want it :thumbsup

I love my dual monitor setup but theres always better

but with my own experience, I have settings that assign monitors to games and such. Im just using the built in software with the video card. Its all in the settings and in games like WoW you can make profiles like said previously that allow you to assign monitors just for that game. So I assume a few games have those options.
