Solid white albacore tuna contains an added chemical called "sodium pyrophosphate" which is listed at OSHA.

Recently I've seen a few solid white tuna sales that seem to only apply to the water versions, while the cans packed in oil are 10 to 30 cents more per can.
Personally I prefer the oil versions to water (especially olive oil). I think they stay fresher, and last longer, but most of my friends seem to prefer water. |
Whatever kind you buy make sure you buy it in the pouches! Otherwise, you have cans with BPA.

Last I checked, Trader Joe's carried white tuna in olive oil as a regular item. Pretty tasty stuff. I'm not sure if there's one in your neck of the woods - TJs now has about 300+ US stores spread throughout most populous areas.

I dont care for tuna, and it doesnt care for me. Good fences make good neighbors.
Yeah.. bored. |
White!... Water!!...

If your store carries it, and not all do from what I've seen, I recommend yellow fin tuna. I think it tastes better than the albacore and regular tuna.
|
I only like it if it's got a little dolphin meat in it. The dolphin safe tuna is kind of bland. Doesn't taste as good.
