Anonymous to attack Facebook
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tYSLXbJxxm...s_facebook.jpg
After U.S. officials shut down MegaUpload last week, the hacktivist group Anonymous began a revenge spree, which started off by taking down the U.S. Department of Justice, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Motion Picture Association of America, and Universal Music. Their next target, according to a video released on YouTube by the user AnonymousVoice777, appears to be Facebook. Hackers belonging to the Anonymous group announced on Tuesday that they plan to attack Facebook on January 28. |
Bunch of idiots.
Yawn.
So FB will go down for a few hours. Maybe the day. These guys are seriously misguided. |
This is like, what, the 5th time they tryin' this shit...? :1orglaugh
help ... stop ...
from what I've read this is a 'hoax' many many people have claimed that this is actually being done by either the feds or someone trying to set up people (just what I've read lol)
According to the comments, "a real 'attack' would NEVER include download links to the ness software, nor would they REALLY go after Facebook as THAT is one of the places 'THEY' use to spread their own messages (And FB is against SOPA and they have only been going after SOPA supporters lately) funny thing though... ANYONE can take the intro of the 'official' anon vids and use a computer voice mod and claim any old thing they want... would be funny if someone would make one that said "On X day at X o'clock everyone walk their dogs for X reason" and just see if makes the news lol -Loki- |
What are you talking about? Isn't Facebook still down, following Anonymous' attack on November 5th?!? Oh, wait...
Not long before the US gov labels them a terrorist group.

They can take out the site of a non internet dedicated group, but FB is as big as google, I doubt their servers would even notice.

I think it?s just a prank or an attempt to discredit the group by people who are bothered by them. |
There are things you can do but I would think attacking FB would be hard due to how robust it is.
Of course some of the guys behind the machines are pretty good. |
These guys are kind of like terrorists. All they do is go around making threats and trying to fuck up everyone's day. It's not like hacking the Playstation network did anything for me, except send me into a panic over my credit card info, and keep me disconnected from PSN for a month.
I get sick of hearing about them really

I'd better plant some long term crops on farmville so they don't wither during the attack

A bunch of kids living in their parent's basements doing DDOS attacks. Elite hackers changing the world. :disgust

I wonder why everyone goes bat shit crazy when the govt. goes after pirate sites that steal shit and everybody screams "censorship"
But when Anonymous actually DOES censor the internet by taking down sites that have done nothing other than disagree with them...nobody points out that hypocrisy. |
Nothing will happen.
Another advantage of Facebook's huge hosting presence is they have direct access to backbone providers and peers - that makes filtering out / shunting a DDOS attack a cinch.
To have any noticeable impact on a service the size of Facebook, Anonymous would likely need to infiltrate many of their servers and attack it from within. Other potential methods would involve targeting Facebook's APIs and/or related services that interface with Facebook, such as Zynga gaming sites. On a related note, from what I recall, Anonymous DDOSed PayPal, which has a far smaller internet presence than Facebook, awhile back - few people notice beyond some error messages and brief inconvenience - for most, PayPal kept working throughout the DDOS attack(s). Fb never ran smoother
why would they attack FACEBOOK, place with lots of "illegal content", full of uploaded pics, videos and other stuff that dont belong to uploaders :D
It's the internet equivalent of teepeeing someone's house.
facebook is for losers
Anonymous is Langley for fuck sakes.
The announcement's did not come down from any officially accepted anon sources. IRC channel has been quiet on the subject accept for refutes. The cannon is not loaded on this one.
