its got to have a lot to do with the person taking the photos.

Catalyst 01-22-2012 09:08 PM

I have worked with both canon and nikon ( and fuji)..

this week when I shoot Dylan Ryder, I shoot with film also.. There are major differences, but good photographers can use those differences to his advantage..

Canon 1d MII - mostly canon glass.

of corse you have to know how to use your equiptment, lighting and glass makes a big difference too, but it still gives you an idea.

my pics were taken with canon eos 7D, L-series glass and was done using one alienbee B1600 bouncing off the wall at 1/8 power.

$6000 :Oh crap

btw do you know a good camera for a beginner (<$1000) ?

justinsain 01-22-2012 09:30 PM

I began with Nikon but switched to Canon when I finally went digital.

I'm not big into equipment and try to use as little as possible.
Work fast and travel light best describes my attempt at photography.

It's no secret Canon has the best bodies, but I use a manual focus F1.4 50mm Pentax Super Multi Coated Takumar lens.

Anyway, camera and lense brands are irrelevant

FlorianPC 01-23-2012 02:31 AM

Not the camera or photoshop/lightroom/aperture/... make good pictures, but the photographer and his eyes!

dave90210 01-23-2012 03:42 AM

Everyone knows Nikon has the best color and optics! Where are the Nikon photos?

DaLord 01-23-2012 04:13 AM

All good quality gentlemen. Well done.

Lykos 01-23-2012 06:07 AM

I love that blondie so Sony wins :winkwink:

SmutHammer 01-23-2012 03:22 PM

I'm sure there are more photographers on gfy to post pics....

Why 01-23-2012 04:04 PM

i shoot with a Sony a55, nothing special or over the top... i also dont use it to shoot models. i prefer outdoors, nature, abstract or architecture as subjects. people are boring :)

bns666 01-23-2012 05:09 PM

all those photos are way too edited so anyone couldn't say if they're were from nikon or canon.

all in all it's a personal preference what do you want done in which way and not the brand that you're using, especially when it comes to the 3rd party lenses used on both nikon and canon...

That middle pussy pic is brutally hot. Well done.

Catalyst 01-23-2012 06:10 PM

It was more than that total :-(

and this year.. I am trying to move to all zeiss glass.. and that should but im in the poor house for a while

You know I really like a few of the cheaper camera.. they are really getting good

the fuji x1 ( i think that is what it is called)

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/fujifilmxpro1/

some of lecia are killer on there color rendering

and the sonys have a nice look to them, that is more warm than canon and nikon..

however it really depends on what you need a cheap camera for.. I have a cheap canon and I got it because I needed a waterproof camera..

thanks, harder to get than you would think, using a super wide angle lense.....lol

Alice22 01-23-2012 09:51 PM

I was about to switch from Nikon to canon, because of the video option that canon has on 5d.
And a few days before i sold everything, i had a chance to compare Nikon d700 and canon 5d (both are same class FF cameras, just Nikon has no video).

Well, i was shocked how much nikon was better than canon.
Much faster focus, better ISO performance in low light...everything was just better beside luck of video that very important to me.

Well, i decided to keep Nikon and wait until they will release d800 and i wil upgrade.

But the way, nikkor 24-70 2.8 are MUCH sharper than canon 24-70 2.8

SmutHammer 01-23-2012 10:49 PM

would like to see pics to compare, I never cared for the color you get from Nikon, seems dull to me. My 7D is what I use for all of my video now.

I'm not professional but I would go with either Canon or Sony. I like quality colors.

Tits on Dylan for the win.

Oh wait that was not the question. well I still vote for her tits.

you might be a moron? seriously, you put out content straight from the camera? my actual experience with the 2 systems is the Nikon flash/metering is bit better, Nikon has better ergonomics, for me and the nikon files take more post that canon files...

some guys think canon glass is better... canon does have an interesting lens lineup for sure... love to be able to use the 85 1.2. however if you think one system takes better images or produces better color... you're def a total nitwit. :2 cents:

Name calling really necessary? I'm sorry it's hard for you to face the facts that Canon puts out better colors than Nikon.... I've always heard the opposite that Nikon was better on glass, but 90% of the photo's I have seen from people using Nikon the colors look dull and flat.

Edit: I white balance my camera, no need for color corrections, I do some minor photoshop to remove zits etc. maybe auto contrast, and resize, but that's all.

bump for bm bradley to add his Nikon shots.

pornmasta 07-12-2012 05:19 PM

this thread needs a bump for me.

Alice22 07-12-2012 05:32 PM

I always had Nikon and now moved to Canon (i needed camera right away, and i waited for d800 for 2 month, so i got pissed, and moved to 5d.)

I can say that i had sharper pics with Nikon, but better auto WB with canon.
Both are good.

Alice22 07-12-2012 05:33 PM

I can post pics later, shooting now girl for a solo site, so don't have time.
But i will bump this thread when i will finish.

I shoot Canon DSLR's professionally, but for personal work I still use film. All these photos were shot on TMY (T-Max 400) and developed by me.

Shot on a Hasselblad 500C/M with 50mm lens:
http://www.littlegrayguy.com/gfy/ocean.jpg

Shot on a Holga (a plastic camera with a plastic lens that cost $12 new in 1998)... the slash of light pointing to the model's face is light from the sun leaking into the camera:
