Its for big lists of different domains,not webmail-services.

You do realize that those make up quite a large percentage of the email addresses around, right?

/solution
Send out one mass mailing with some crappy shit that makes people want to unsubscribe. Include an "unsubscribe" link. When they click it, the user's email is verified as real, and his IP is recorded.
Now you have a 100% active list sorted by region :winkwink:

You could as well just img a php-script that gets the IP in the email asigned to every address :Buck:

No. An example: my email program does not open remote images.

Edit: a lot of people on dial-up also download their email, then close the connection again.

Well, you could use this not just for webmail services but for the rest as well. I'd suggest linking a C script though, instead of a php script - especially when using very large lists.
