there are rules of conduct in war, and as such this is breaking them.

however one thing thats interesting is that the taliban have stated that this will not de-rail talks. in other words the taliban are in comunication with usa and/or uk goverment. thus things are going on that we are not arwea of.

it is fortunate such comunication is going on as retaliation for weeing on the dead could be huge. such actions could have resulted in bobing of usa or uk civilians.

While I don't endorse what these guys did I have to admit I am a little shocked when everyone is so surprise and outraged that this happens. You take guys and break them down, turn them into killing machines then send them into a warzone where their job is to kill other people before they get killed and suddenly we are shocked when they aren't perfect citizens and do things that are a little extreme.

I applaud the Marines living and focusing on the present and not worrying about a bunch of what-ifs.

Of all the options possible, I don't think they made the right choice in this case; but, I applaud their ballsy approach to life.:thumbsup

things taken out of context always piss me off.
example, when i was in junor high, I was a big guy - always tall and stronger then all the other kids my size. I didn't like fighting, but had to sometimes when cornered. One kid decided he hated me, and he was a lot smaller then me. He teased me and taunted me and I took it, whatever. then he wanted to fight me. WTF? I dismissed it for about a month, and he went on and on calling me a coward everywhere and it got too much, so I said ok, you know i'm going to beat you bad and i don't want to do ti, but he wanted it so it was scheduled like all good grade 7 fights go... anyway, i let him take a couple swing, he couldn't even budge me. It was sad, and then the IDIOT started taunting me again cause i wouldn't hit him, it just seemed too easy...anyway he picked up a rock so I punched him in the face - wham, and he went down. Seems I broke a tooth, and as luck would have it I think i chipped a bone in my hand. hurt like hell for a couple of years, never got it looked at though. anyway, point is if someone would have filmed me hitting a smaller guy in the face and didn't have an angle to see the rock in his hand, I'd have looked horrible and everyone would call me a bully. as it turned out, next day in school the guy didn't bug me anymore and no one called me a bully cause I had told everyone for weeks i didn't want to fight him. I got lucky.

We have discussed his training and they don't train soldiers to kill people they respect, like, think of as husbands, fathers or even people. That's self defeating. Because when someone appears in the cross hairs of his rifle, he has to control every emotion and make sure the bullet he sands 1,000 metres hits squarely in the place t was intended.

It takes a lot of adrenalin and sheer guts to fight in a war. So expecting them to act like saints after the killing is so cock eyed t beggars belief.

The problem is not training them to do stupid things like film it. There's a reason that after Vietnam, which I considered and illegal war, the press were not given free reign. Soldiers with cameras, defeats the object.

Great, while the sniper group is back in NC enjoying tacos down the street, at fr. bragg, the buddies they left behind in Afghanistan will be facing an entirely pissed off population.

We killed those fighters, we took their lives, we deprived children of fathers, wives of husbands...that's war...We brought the greatest harm to them we could. We ended their life. But when those marines sank to pissing on dead bodies...they become lower than the enemy. Those dimwits just made everything much much harder for those still fighting. Sad day for the Marines. Is this one of the reasons DOD has been talking about pulling Marines out of Afghan and putting them back to their original mission?
