Rode Microphones
Who here has experience with Rode mics?
I was watching a video on their site where the owner gave a tour of his factory. They have some cool looking equipment there and the dude is like "Nobody else has this stuff" then the next sentence says something like "this is standard for all the good companies". He contradicts himself several times throughout his overly confident video. Anyway.......Are the products all that or??? |
I have their Podcaster USB Mic - The previous black version - it's excellent.
As far as their pro mikes go, their valve broadcaster mics are used by a number of radio stations in Australia. edit: 10 year no fuss replacement warranty is pretty good too. |
They make good mics but their quality control is not so amazing. A good audio shop will let you test the mic out before you buy it so you get a good copy.
A great place to get amazing info on bargain mics is over at dvxuser.com in the audio forum. Also any mic will sound so much better if you use a small portable mixer instead of the preamps on your camera. For budget mics I always loved AKG Blueline. They are used by the big audio guys in movies where they are worried about damaging their really expensive Schoeps and Sennheisers. This hypercardiod sounds really amazing for the price. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...icrophone.html |
we have/use a rode shotgun mic, its good, no complaints here. But then again..im sure all pro-sumer mics are pretty good... although the "best" are supposed to be sennheiser..? just depends on your budget, what are you shooting & how are you shooting...
cheers |
