best methods for finding models?
I shot A LOT of content last year for my sites.
A few girls I knew in real life, a few I met online. Some I met on sites like Hot or Not, and a good deal through Adult Staffing, OneModelPlace, etc. What have you found to be the best way to find girls who are not in the biz, or perhaps are looking to get in? I did an OC Weekly newspaper ad and was overwhelmed, the only downside was weeding through all the responses which took forever and a day and produced a good deal of flakey girls. |
strip bars. hard to find people with their shit together, but i know many of them would rather model than dance.

Sey up a booth in your local mall

Word of mouth. All of the non-models (first-time amateurs) I have shot were either friends of mine, or heard about me and contacted me.
|
Yeah... I did try a few dancers...
Implants, tattoos, emotional baggage... not my best experience. The unfortunate part was that most who needed the money looked like strippers and not real or amateur. |
My fantasy is to carry some good cards with some basic info, sort of a mini-handout.
Talk to girls working shit minimum wage jobs, like Wal-Mart or the like... Find a cute one, offer her $200 to do a shoot and hand her my info. Fuck, that'd be a great reality site! |

I am working up the courage... it took me until my early 20s to approach girls for my own personal reasons...
I just don't want to be "that scummy guy." I need to get a decent van and traverse the country for a few weeks doing it--that way, what do I care if some Wal-Mart girl in Texas thinks I am a scumbag? Hell, I can do shoots right there in the van--tell the girl to take a break and offer her $50-$100 for 30 minutes of solo posing... Check IDs, keep my paperwork in line... I could get a good site within a few days... Shit, if someone is down to handle promo and affiliate stuff for it, I will rent a vehicle and hit the road in the coming weeks! To a girl working a minimum wage job in any of the middle states, $200 is A LOT of money. |

try a few yahoo, msn... chat goups for your city. I found a few bbw models that way who are otherwise hard to find.

Be careful in some states or counties, and countries they have laws regarding legal adult work, some require permits and such... So handing out flyers and business cards you might want to make sure your not in one of those wierd areas... very few of them but I know they exist.

Try finding a girl to talk to girls at the local college/university and discos. Classified ads are the best way to get new talent, then get them from their friends. Strippers make lousy models. :BangBang: |

I approach girls in public on a regular basis. Day jobs, night clubs, whatever... 3 very important things to remember... 1: RESPECT them. 2: Be confident. If you do not have your shit together and can not answer EVERY question without hesitation then they will smell bullshit and walk away. 3: Be honest. If you lie then you give the rest of us a bad name. This pretty much goes right back to the respec issue. BTW...I am sucessful with public approaches about 70% of the time. Even the ones who turn me down do it in a polite way because I do not offend them. Strippers? FUCK NO. Referrals from other models? Not likely from a real amateur. |

Lighstpeed Media uses a number of different methods to find our models.
First, we stay away from strip clubs. Why would a girl want $200 for two hours worth of work when she can make $600 in four hours in the club? Not to mention that strippers look like strippers, and that's not the look LS Media goes for. We put ads in The New Times and the Job Examiner locally. We also work with other companies in the area and trade models, including companies such as Hard Drive Productions and Sweetapples. |
Aaron! Great advice! Perfect!
Most of our models are from referrals.. My very first model (Sydney) was a dancer and she has been my best person to get referals from! Notice I said she "was" a dancer. Makes it easier to sell to her friends when they see her making money and being treated well. She brought us Dana as wellas linign me up wth some great girls for our mega Perfection Girls site coming out next month. Treat it like a business and be honest with them. Dont play the "Caption Save A Hoe" game with them by promising them the world. Be respectful and expect the same in return. Edited for spelling, grammar and mis-uses of words or anything else that could have occured at 2:12 am |
I was kidding about trashy Wal-Mart girls. I was really more conveying the style... and if you've been to a Wal-Mart, especially in Fresno, CA, you know what I am talking about!
On the advice: I do all those things. I have conducted over 60 shoots--some girls new to the biz, some well into it all. Right now, I am just wanting to find new ones in ways I have yet to. I know about the concerns--a recent acquaintence decided not to model with anyone but me (her only shoot), and has been telling me the horror stories of inept sites approaching her and scaring her off. Also, yes... the dangers of playing "Captain Save A Hoe." Thank you for bringing it up. I use that reference often to describe the stupid shit I do and later regret... happens every so often in this biz. |
