there's a difference; most of us in the free world use google email service that is called GMAIL.COM.
In the UK until not long ago (2010) Google couldn't use GMAIL.COM since a private person was holding this domain http://support.google.com/mail/bin/a...&answer=159001

So pay attention to emails coming from the alias @googlemail.com since few people told me about the scammer offering domains/sites from GFY (not only my own).
