Denver at New England. Who do you take to win?

Not the spread, who wins and advances?

I am going to take Denver. I went to the first meeting between these two teams and picked Denver then also. I lost, but I don't expect uncharacteristic turnovers this time around.

Is New England really this much of a lock?

Spread is 13.5, so pretty much the entire world says New England wins.

seeric 01-09-2012 07:36 PM

Damn dude, you're with L3 now? Congrats!

New England. Tebow can't trade points with Brady and that offense.

Denver does have a crazy defense though. I don't think anything is a lock, but I also don't see the Broncos winning this game.

I guess if you were a wagering man, 100 bucks on Denver to win outright would win you about 1400 I think.

Evil1 01-09-2012 07:45 PM

The patriots are going to score 30, maybe 40 or even more, the turnovers are going to happen again because denver is going to be forced to take chances in a desperate attempt to keep up. Denver wins when their defense can keep it close near the end and the offense can pull something out of their ass.

Also the patriots are usually a LOT more successful when playing a team the second time around when they have recent tape on the player vs player matchups. NE's coaches are amazing at exploiting that. It should be another blowout, probably by more then the 23 points or whatever it was last month.

Even if Jesus plays WR i dont see them keeping up with brady. I also dont think even jesus himself could bring that gronkowski down.

Mutt 01-09-2012 08:09 PM

it would have to be a combination of Denver's defense playing as well as they can and Tebow playing at least as well as he did against Pittsburgh - nobody is going to stop New England from scoring at least 24 points and that's being generous to Denver. Tebow needs to put 30 points up on the board to have a chance I think. New England's defense is horrible so it's possible - but still very improbable.

justinsain 01-09-2012 09:38 PM

The first time they played Denver imploded with three costly turnovers followed by several mistakes by Tebow.

All it takes is for the Pats to make a few mistakes of their own and Denver will be right there. I also think that Denver's win yesterday will give them a lot of confidence and momentum. Denver came real close to breaking a few in the running game against the Pats and if Tebow gets to passing like he did against the Steelers, I think its going to be a great game.

Its really hard to bet against the Pats but I want to see Denver go all the way :)

I grew up in Denver so I'll be pulling for Tebow and the Broncos. The Broncos are 8-3 under Tebow while the Patriots are 13-3. I'll be disappointed, not surprised, if Denver loses.

If Denver beats the spread against the Patriots after starting the season 1-4 before starting Tebow, I think the season shows that Tebow is a heck of a lot better than people tried to say. The team was 1-4 without him, so it's not that they are a great team carrying Tebow to the playoffs.

Biggie Smalls Web Writing 01-10-2012 02:38 AM

Im cheering for Denver, but think that New England will win.

rufflebuttfairy 01-10-2012 04:04 AM

I really, really, really, really want Denver to win. I am a Bronco Fan, since I was a little girl, and I live in the heart of new england right now... so they just have to win. Tebow can Tebow himself as much as he wants, I just want a win.. lol.

God is Tebow? God hates everyone but Tebow? Are you this fucking retarded?

Cory W 01-10-2012 11:30 AM

Anything can happen, however, its the Playoffs and that leaves room for more than anything to happen. Teams always seem to get challenged when you least expect it. The only consistent thing I see in the playoffs is that teams that run the ball and play good defense tend to grind out other teams. Denver does just that. They really are the prototypical Superbowl team, very run of the mill. They travel very well, in fact, probably better than most every other team out there.

Tebow is great for the road because he can be as efficient as anyone out there and put Denver in the plus category in the turnover margin (the number one most effective stat for winning teams). He makes high-percentage throws into single coverage. He can play with an all-upside game.

I love New England, but I don't trust a team with that type of defense in the playoffs. It seems like a much larger liability than Tebow's lull quarters. If Denver starts having its way with New England on the ground, look out. I went to the first meeting between these two, Denver made 3 turnovers, two were very random and unlikely to occur again. Before those happened, it looked as if Denver would win the game.

But that's just my two cents, its not popular.

Scott McD 01-10-2012 11:47 AM

I just checked the odds.

New England 1/8

Denver 11/2

If i thought Denver had any chance, i'd stick money on them. As it is, no way am i betting against a team priced at 1/8...

Bah, put the bulk of your bet on NE, then slap $20 or $50 on Denver.

Hedge! Hedge!

Corey

The way I see it it's either going to be a NE blowout like 45-17, or else Denver's D will find a way to get at Brady while Tebow's offense will take advantage of NE's weak defense, resulting in a fairly close game.

I hope it's the latter, thus I'm going with Denver. NE will no doubt do their homework, but IF the Broncos (especially their QB) can build on last week's win and fine tune that air attack they definitely have a chance.

Plus I like underdogs.

Ramos 01-10-2012 12:06 PM

I'm not rooting against God's Son, Go Tebow!

bushwacker 01-10-2012 04:32 PM

NE will not give up the big play like pitt. did. Belichek will make sure his defense makes the broncos grind every yard out. I like NE to cover, however my picks have been less than stellar this year. :upsidedow

WebairMetz 01-10-2012 04:35 PM

NE is going to roast the broncos-- 48-17

V_RocKs 01-10-2012 04:47 PM

Tebow beat Big Ben even with the bad calls... But then Big Ben basically had a broken ankle... So no... sorry... a real quarterback is going to run him into the ground.

Relentless 01-10-2012 04:59 PM

Steelers had a ton of key players hurt or out. Clark, Rothlisberger, Pouncey, Kiesel, Woodley, Starks and the list goes on...

Unless Brady, Gronkowski, Mayo and Wilfork get hurt... Pats win by 10

jmk 01-10-2012 05:45 PM

All I know is a lot of people are gonna watch that game :)

justinsain 01-10-2012 06:23 PM

I'm not going to take the time to check my facts so I'm going off the top of my head to get the general idea.

In the last game between the two, Denver came out swinging and had about 185 total yards of offense in the 1st quarter and built a 17 to 3 lead over the Pats. The Broncos running game was ripping off nice chunks of yardage and came close to breaking a few for TDs. If Denver has stepped up their passing game they will do even better this time. The threat of the pass along with a powerful running game will wreak havoc on the admittedly poor Pats defense.

At that point in the game it was going down very much like the Steelers game. Denver built a lead and the Steelers worked their way back into the game. The Pats capitalized on three Denver turnovers all resulting in points which easily allowed them to get back in the game. From there the Broncos got sloppy and the Pats blew by for the win. It would be hard for any NFL team to give up three turnovers , especially in the red zone to the Pats and expect to hang with them.

IF Denver had not committed the turnovers I believe that game would have went down much like the Steeler game. Denver gets the early lead and Pats try to catch up before the clock runs out. It would've been much closer.

This weekend I expect with the Broncos riding a mile high after their last win they will be playing with a confidence level at its highest this season and will be playing much sharper. This time the Pasts will commit at least one turnover. The game will go down to the last drive again and be won by a field goal.

That's a bad idea. You don't want Tebow eating clock.

Joxxy 01-10-2012 06:56 PM

There are two players who matter the most in the game. And Tim Tebow isn't one of them. It's Von Miller putting pressure on Brady. The other being Champ Bailey covering Gronk and Welker. With pressure on Brady, bump-and-run coverage on the Pats receiver, they can neutralize the Pats' offense.

On the offensive side of the ball, Denver can just run the ball down the throats of the Pats. If they can establish the run early with McGahee...not entirely Tebow, because you want him to at least hit quick slants...if they can run the ball through Wilfork and Mayo. They can dominate the clock.

With that all said: Tom Brady of the true Catholic faith will rout the Donkeys 42-14

SlammedMedia 01-11-2012 07:59 AM

Tebow may have topped Pittsburgh's defense, but he doesn't have a chance against New England's offense. Pats will win by at least 14.

VenzuelanChick 01-11-2012 08:06 AM

I will go Broncos but just out of love because I lived in Denver and love that city!

I´m gonna hate to see them get raped.

New England will slaughter them and put an end to this fluke of a season.

Tebow doesn't play against New England's offense he plays against their defense. A defense which is rated closer to the bottom than the top in the NFL this year.
