I know on new cars you can write to some sort of area rep or whatever else .. anyone know how to get LG to fix a television a little out of the warranty?

Got Verizon FIOS? If so, get their TV insurance for $9.95 and after a few weeks report it...
If you cannot wait that long, Google the TV's part number and backlight and buy it off of Ebay or Amazon. Then switch it out yourself. Very easy to do. |
Ask them, you could be lucky and they decide to take care of it as a goodwill thing. I had a Sony Ericsson phone start playing up a couple of months out of warranty, and they allowed it as a warranty fix.

Write a snail mail letter to the head of customer service, and CC the CEO.
Say how you've always bought LG, you recommend LG to your friends and how disappointed you are etc etc Then ask for one of the 55" OLEDs they are demming at CES!]](Don't do the last bit, but do write the letter) |
This happened to my LG, 1 week out of warranty, they wouldn't help me, repaired for around £120. LG is good value but we get what we pay for.

I remember the Goldstar brand in the 1980s (LG = Lucky Goldstar), in Australia they were the dreadful low quality no name brand products... ones you never see in other stores. They've obviously improved since then, but still... ;)

Sucks.. Have had my LG for 5 years now and even after a big move, no issues with it.
