Use MyBB, it's better than phpBB, both are for free.

Or you can also use smart machines or whatever the script is called.

There's a forum plugin for Wordpress I downloaded but never installed. Mingle Forum, I think? Anyone ever try it out?

It's lightweight and fairly easy to customize. But I would choose MyBB over it any day.
