Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band (pics)
Last night, goodgirl and I went to see a long time favorite performing artists, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band at Staples Center, courtesy of LeRoy and DTICash. We had a great time. I am not sure how I went 40+ years with never seeing him in concert, but that has been resolved.
Thanks again, LeRoy, we had a blast. Anyone that wants to see all the pics, they are at http://www.gotbaddog.com/bob-seger-c...taples-center/ Here are a couple samples http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...seger_3812.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...seger_3842.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...seger_3901.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...seger_3946.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...seger_4133.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...seger_4372.jpg |

Bob
I love Seger. Would go see him again.
Unfortunately, the only live concert I saw, he led of for BB King. He had been the Bob Seger Sound System and just changed the the Silver Bullet Band. After his set, nobody clapped. The manager said, if we didn't clap there would be no encore. At that point the audience started booing. Glad he got it back together. |

yes it was

Since BB King was the headliner, could never figure out the pairing. Tough crowd,. the Beatles or Rolling Stones would have had a tough time with that crowd. They wanted Blues. As I said, love Bob. We all have bad days, maybe it was just one of his. Against the Wind is one of the greatest songs ever and this concert predated that. About 4 years ago, I found a CD of BB Kings' set. To paraphrase WC Fields, about Vaudeville, KC is the worst town to play. 'Farmers have seen fires, floods, cattle stampedes and tornadoes. After all that, everything is boring.' That's why in the Movie International House, he insulted KCMO & KCKS. "I'm not lost, Kansas City is lost." Hopefully Boob makes it back to town. If you have never heard James McMurty (Alt Country), you have to hear him. Did the opening song for "Beer For MY Horses." "Strap those kids in the SUV, give them a shot of Benedrille and a Cherry Coke, we're going to Oklahoma, for the family reunion." |

One of the strangest pairings I recall was the first time I saw the Stones. Lead act, Stevie Wonder. This was in 72. |
Crowd makes the difference
Quote:
Like I said, Bob just had a bad night. Cause I have most of his albums. Concerts can be strange. Saw the Stones sitting behind the stage, had to listen to the echo off the cement walls. Still was fun. Saw Procol Harum 3 times. Last concert, the minute they started a song the audience was up with a standing ovation. I don't think they were any better than the other 2 times (1st was lead for Leon Russell), but it was the crowd that made the difference. |

Went to an outdoor, festival style concert back in the early 70's. Headliner was Leon Russell (as I recall, he was the reason I went). They had all kinds of weird acts. Pretty sure Kool and the Gang was one of the openers. Sitting in the fucking rain/drizzle all day. It was Leon Russell, this was going to be worth it. I remember the opening. This long haired Asian (no idea the gender) came on stage with a violin and let out one long note. The crowd roared. Leon came out, announced he had been saved and proceeded to play all his new Christian stuff. Don't recall him playing any of his older stuff. |
