I wonder what percentage of users use file-sharing sites for legal legitimate reasons. My guess is less than 1% lol.

Klen 12-29-2011 08:26 AM

Yes, when working with my partner I just use dropbox because of the cross platform applicability of it. This makes it great for jumping between different computers. Of course you could have an ftp account open on your server but that's just a little more inconvenient.

totally depends if your "legitimate reasons" exclude the network aware versions of backup/recovery

the original uploader would all be covered by fair use of backup as well as everyone who bought the content and simply used the shared backup to recover their stuff.

Dropbox works great to sync between people working on the same projects in different locations. I don't use it for anything super important though, and encrypt most things in there as well.

We use dropbox in the office. It's easier to have it synched, so whether we're in the office, working from home, on the road, etc. we still have access to all of our files.

I didn't fucking ask for an explanation, someone is defensive. :1orglaugh The backup story is hilarious though, I remember hearing it back in the Napster days.

Yes, let me upload a movie and share with 1,000,000 people and earn commissions for every download. It's just for backup, BACKUP I TELL YA!
