How to get started in such a thing, even at noob level? Where have you been learning?

Klen 12-27-2011 12:48 PM

Well i was researching that area but it is very frustrating how there is no approved universal platform for all cellphone operative systems. And what is especially frustrating, you cant even develop native apps for iphone unless you own mac.You could improvise by using HTML 5,java or jquery mobile which working on all platforms, but such apps probably wont be accepted on apple/android/microsoft store. Also i hate monopoly of stores, you cant even publish internal app for you own use without their approval.
And here is some url's which i found about developing:
http://xamarin.com/
http://www.mobiaccess.net/developers
http://www.applicationcraft.com/pricing-main
http://phonegap.com/

Well, I've been coding for 20+ years, but not much object orientated stuff like java is.. mostly just lame php, asp and such..

What I did was downloading a shitload of Android Dev books and brought them along on my recent vacation.. that gave me some basic clues what its all about.

Here's a screenshot of the app I'm working on.. it's almost finished, but I cant figure out how to get the file read/write to work so I can save tracks.. been struggling with it for hours now..

I actually bought an iMac so I could work on iPhone apps.. but I quickly gave up as there's no way I'm gonna have to work on two different OS in order to code apps.. so Android it is.

Did you developed any paid app with it and successfully published it to apple/android/microsoft store?

I've been having a lot of free time lately and have been looking at maybe fooling around with it some just to give me something to do.

Phonegap sucks,,,,You should be using titanium Appcelerator..

That looks really cool, I have fooled around with mobile and am a drummer. I use Shiva as a way to code for multiple platforms and could incorporate 3d animations, but learned the hard way that it doesn't work well for music apps since its all based on fps. I have a few apps on android(i.e. PROJAM - a music app and BLACK JACK BIKINI NINJAS)..and a few apps on the Mikandi market(hasn't done didley)....used to have apps on itunes, but never renewed my developer agreement.

All my android apps are simple webview code that loads a mobile website. Thankfully Android store accept.. Looking more at ipad apps atm as the android "tablet" market is so fucking small it's not funny.

I know i forgot something:
http://www.appcelerator.com/products/
Now if someone could make a test of all those available crossplatfom product and give valuable input. For me what would be good,is to have language similar to DOT.NET platform and real crossplatform solution, which means for example you install program on windows and you can compile to native code without need to have special mac computer or any other.
