Why so little porn produced in Australia?

How come there's never been much porn, softcore or hardcore, come out of Australia? People think of the Gold Coast like Southern California, beaches, tanned hot girls but no porn. The only well known porn out of that whole country was Abbie Winters. You don't even see softcore solo girl sites from Australia like you do from the US, Canada, the UK. When was the last Australian girl a big pornstar? I remember one in the 90's, and that's it.

And what happened to the Montreal porn industry? Carol Cox and her group of amateur swingers were pioneers in Internet porn, then you had Dugmor and his own productions, that BrunoB dude and lots of cute young French Canadian girls like Lanny Barbie doing hardcore and softcore. It's all gone, haven't heard of anything coming out of Montreal in years other than Ariel.

Same with Vancouver, there wasn't as much as in Montreal but you had the Sweets and some others. All gone now.

It seems like the biggest change in the geography of porn production is how big Russia has become in the production of hardcore porn. Years ago all you thought of when it came to Russia and porn was MetArt models.

StickyGreen 12-20-2011 04:17 AM

Probably because Australia is a nice place.

u-Bob 12-20-2011 04:19 AM

Because Australia is known for dingos, kangaroos, boomerangs, the Sydney Opera House, Ayres rock,... and censorship.

so weird, you're in the porn industry, or at least hang out on a forum for people who make and sell porn but obviously think porn is a bad thing because in nice places there isn't much porn according to you.

Some day you'll understand.

DamianJ 12-20-2011 04:22 AM

Isn't making porn illegal in Australia?

Mutt 12-20-2011 04:26 AM

Abbie Winters did it for 10 years in a state that is supposedly the most backwards/conservative in Australia. He was chased out finally though don't think he was ever charged with anything.

redwhiteandblue 12-20-2011 05:09 AM

Because Aussie girls are easy.

blazin 12-20-2011 05:26 AM

Maybe because most Aussie woman look like a buffaloes ass.

AdultEUhost-Sebas 12-20-2011 06:15 AM

Because only they can find kangaroos!

AdultKing 12-20-2011 06:29 AM

Two main reasons.

Legally it's difficult to get big and not get noticed. Censorship laws here are quite strict. Much of what is available on most adult websites would be refused classification here. Things such as watersports, scat teen looking teens, fisting, sado masochism, amputee porn, sister fantasies, mother daughter fantasies, men dressed as babies, would all be illegal to sell in Australia. Unfortunately from a legal perspective RC material ends up being lumped in with child porn and bestiality which are also RC, quite a serious offence if you happen to cross over the very unclear lines.

Our peak adult industry lobby group, the Eros Foundation recently made a submission on such matters to the Law Reform Commission

http://www.eros.org.au/index.php?opt...67&Ite mid=23

The second reason is that producing porn is very expensive in Australia compared to many other parts of the world. We have high labour costs. If you want great looking talent you had better be prepared to pay for it.

Fletch XXX 12-20-2011 06:46 AM

i thought everyone in adult knew its somewhat more restricted in aus?

I blame Rolf Harris...

BareBacked 12-20-2011 09:55 AM

1. The population is tiny
2. It is illegal in most places in Aus

It has nothing to do with being illegal, if that stopped people I would of never got this far. Aussie girls just don't like to do porn. Much like a few other places. South Africa, Denmark to a certain extent, Poland, etc.

Also maybe the standard of living and job opportunities there have something to do with it.

Paul, you are so full of shit I don't know where to begin.

When we used to produce our own content we would get 50+ girls coming from one classified ad in the jobs section of a major Melbourne newspaper.

Getting talent isn't a problem, it's the cost and legal difficulties that mitigate porn production in this country.

Sometimes the locals just don't have what it takes skill wise or business wise to jump start or sustain local porn production. There was a time from the mid to late 1990s before internet porn grew big where I, a guy from New Jersey, was the most well known entity with the best distribution who was recruiting models and producing porn movies in Canada including six volumes of a VHS & DVD series called Canadian Beaver Hunt, four more of Canadian Stripper Search and a handful of other movies with other titles using all local talent around both Toronto and Montreal.

I thought everyone knew that too.

If you live in Australia, and post online about how easy and cheap it is to do porn in Australia, you'll quickly be turned in by your local competition. Seriously.

Don't expect any Australian, living in Australia, to post the truth here. They'd be stupid to do so with the current political climate :2 cents:

Si 12-20-2011 12:03 PM

Same reason people think UK girls are ugly. Too expensive to produce and get the really hot looking talent. That, and the fact Australia has a fair amount of censorship.

Is Monica Mayhem still going? She's a pretty hot Aussie:thumbsup

garce 12-20-2011 02:17 PM

I just thought all this porn stuff was pretty much against the law down there. I have no real clue, though.

it's no more expensive to shoot porn in Australia than in the US or Canada - as far as i know Australia's cost and standard of living isn't greater than Canada or the US.

I beg to differ. The cost is higher for many reasons, including the cost of living.

An average unrennovated 2 bedroom workers terrace in an inner Melbourne suburb can cost you $700,000 plus. An unrennovated 3 bedroom house a little further out can cost you the same

http://www.realestate.com.au/propert...cote-109056851

An outer suburban 3-4 bedroom house can cost $500,000+ for a shit hole 40km plus away from the city.

http://www.realestate.com.au/propert...lloc-107449127

Paying $1 million + for a good house is not unheard of.

The average Australian wage is $1416.00 per week.

http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/[email protected]/mf/6302.0

Someone shooting porn would want alot more than $1416 per week, someone shooting cheesy ads for late night TV can earn $6k + per week easily.

Petrol is 136.9 cents per litre (1 litre = 0.26 US gallons)

Car registration is around $600 per year + Insurance around $300 - $700 per year.

A loaf of bread is about $4 - $5.

I could go on.

Most of that sounds like any big city in the US. Only I can GUARANTEE you that there's no State in the US where the average person takes home $1400 per week.
