How Many Hours Per Day Do You Work?

I don't remember a day where I didn't put in at least 12 hours. Today is 18 hours, it's 2am :Oh crap

2intense 12-18-2011 12:16 AM

12 hours

Mr Pheer 12-18-2011 12:21 AM

Some days more than others. Sometimes I'll go 36 hours straight, depending on what needs to be done and how important it is.

Overall I'd say 10 hours on average these days.

I would imagine there will be a lot of posts with 10+ hours. There aren't many lazy webmasters (that make money).

AAB 12-18-2011 12:52 AM

I need to do something about it. Been pulling 15+ work hour days for years :(

k0nr4d 12-18-2011 01:09 AM

10 to 14 usually

Redrob 12-18-2011 01:20 AM

Define "work".....

Most of the time, I love my job, I am my own boss, and I make decent wage.

I did that for a long time, then my doctor told me to cut the shit out. So most days I have a quitting time now unless something has a high priority.

Catalyst 12-18-2011 02:30 AM

too many.. but I love my work.. I generally work like 18 to 20 hours.. for 4 to 5 days.. then take a couple of lite days just playing around or learning new stuff..then back to the long day..

when I do photoshoots.. they are shorter days.. like 8 hours or so..

I got up at 7am this morning..it is now 1:30.. how long is that.. and I will be up for at least another 3 to 4 hours..

I don't consider what I do "work". I can go 24 hours and not feel it but I have a wife, dogs, and other responsibilities to attend to.

B.Barnato 12-18-2011 02:35 AM

Actual work maybe 3 hours if that, fucking about on GFY, reddit etc. 12 hours+

V_RocKs 12-18-2011 02:59 AM

Depends on the day. sometimes I do two or three days straight. Others I do far less.

CurrentlySober 12-18-2011 03:26 AM

i cant afford to work... :(

femdomdestiny 12-18-2011 04:11 AM

Django 12-18-2011 07:45 AM

WarChild 12-18-2011 07:54 AM

Something like 20 minutes per day on average.

Barefootsies 12-18-2011 07:54 AM

It honestly varies depending on what is going on.

If there is a new website/project in the works, I could be working 12-18 hour days until launched. Then it would tapper off from there. In a normal work week, it's anywhere from 2-8 hours (I am talking about actual work, not reading GFY or alike) depending on what requires my attention. I typically will take the weekends off (when possible).

I have hired and outsourced a lot the daily grind work, which has lightened my load. That does not mean it has making my life completely 'stress-free' though. It is a bitter pill you have to learn to swallow when you go this route. Most people's 100% is barely YOUR 25-50% effort by comparison. It is very very frustrating.

That said, no one will have the passion for your business like you do. Even if their pay check it directly tied to it, and their efforts on a daily basis. It is simply something you will struggle to cope with as a business owner if you want some sort of 'enjoyment' out of life via free time.

Making money hand over fist is lovely. I used to work 7 days a week, 18 hour days for YEARS! But you really need to take a step or two back and enjoy that money, and make time for yourself. When I hit my mid 30's I started scaling back, taking vacations, and hiring some people to do the daily grind. I would say the quality of life is better despite the annoyance and frustrations.

:2 cents:

Look Chang 12-18-2011 07:59 AM

Biggie Smalls Web Writing 12-18-2011 10:05 AM

From 2 to 14, it all depends...

The Heron 12-18-2011 10:08 AM

Negative 4 hours. I say negative because I waste at least 4 hours looking at email, msg boards, facebook and stats. It's a hard life

I define work as being productive, btw.

Yesterday was Saturday and I worked until 1am Sunday morning. Sunday morning I was back up at 7am and worked until just now, 10am. I'll try to stay away from the computer but I have some other things I know I want to get down. Christmas is a busy time for me.

Tofu 12-18-2011 10:53 AM

Depends really. Anything from 8 - 12 hrs.

I always make sure though that i do less at weekends. I think it's very important that you can still seperate a weekend from week days...

I would like to get to this point, where my weekends can be more of the typical weekends. But, I would have to be comfortable with the amount of income I have before I can do this. Until then, there are no weekends, lol.

Nicky 12-18-2011 12:53 PM
