Twitter Gurus - Can I Really Follow And Unfollow 1k People Per Day?

I've read on many sites that you can follow 1k people a day without getting suspended. This is actually pretty good traffic if you follow people that have just followed celebs.

The problem is I have to unfollow others to be able to follow more every day. I usually unfollow those people lower on my list as I feel they are less likely to notice.

My question is can I unfollow 900 people a day and be safe following another 900?

I heard before limit is 500, not sure is this true anymore. Any way to do that you need automated tools, so probably people making such stuff will know limits.

Aggressive following practice will get you suspended pretty quickly.

It only takes a couple of people hitting the spam or abuse link on a follow to stuff you up.

I thought that was only for following the same person. If you only follow people that have just followed a celeb in the last 10 minutes that will rarely happen.

and if you're automating it's good to read this

I've already read all that. I don't automate anything. It doesn't take that long to do it by hand.

That still doesn't tell me anything. It says unless your following hundreds of people a day this won't apply to you. What does that mean? Can I follow 100, 200? I still see lots of sites saying 1000/day is the limit.

AdultKing 12-17-2011 04:13 AM

What makes you think there is a hard limit and not an algorithm that detects spammy behaviour based on patterns not directly linked to set limits ?

Bottom line is, if you think what you're doing could possibly be considered spam then don't.

Do that and you'll raise more flags than the French.

surely 100 follows and 100 unfollows a day won't hurt if I only unfollow my oldest friends.

porno jew 12-17-2011 06:39 AM

try it out. see what daily level will get you banned. there is no hard and fast number.

I've done 150 follow and 150 unfollow for years almost every day. I know people do more than that without getting banned. If they suspend your account you can usually get it turned back on, but you'll only be able to follow about 10 a day.

my advise is to only follow at max 300 to 400 a day.

also most will not follow you instantly, it may take days if not weeks to add you.

i suspect to do it right it takes a bit of time.

I have had accounts get flagged for 30-50 follow/unfollow per day churn and they were older accounts. I know guys doing 100xs that without issues. So who knows. Just proceed with caution. As already mentioned most of the time you can get the account back for these types of infractions.

DigitalTheory 12-17-2011 01:03 PM

If you add people just to unfollow them (in bulk) your account will start being dumb, your post wont show up in searches, etc. I have had it happen once or twice.
