Well i dont run tube sites so i cant help :)

The short sightedness was on the part of big websites that did not seek any kind of
agreement whatsoever with content creators. Legit businesses have paid licensing
fees to copyright holders for a long time and have been very profitable.

Being absolutely greedy and stubborn about paying even the smallest fee forced
a iron hand to be played.

The copyright law was clear and people clearly decided not to give a fuck.

All these sites had to do was work with the industries to make a affordable agreement
to distribute the material. It worked for radio, television, book stores, night clubs,
retail stores, movie rentals.......it worked for everybody except assholes on the internet.

It doesn't matter if this bill is not passed because there will simply
be another one down the road that will pass.
Money is involved and that is the end of all other factors because the money is going
to be gotten one way or another.

The government has a stake in this in the terms of increased tax revenue from the
companies they protect. The government is going after the money.


Free speech and fair use arguments against this bill are complete bullshit as the
bill is explicit in targeting sites who's main purpose is to pirate.

then the amount of new material being produced will go down to nothing.
It cost money to produce content. If the money is not made back then no
more content can be produced. It's very simple.

The porn sites that went out of business are not producing any new content you know?
If all the producers go belly up then what will the pirates have to pirate?
They will collapse themselves because they didn't want to pay.

There is a biz model I heard at the Euro shows. People produce content so it purposely gets stolen then they sue the end users. "The suits make way more money than the site ever would."

Letting the goverment, large corporations or competitors determine "intent" can be a very bad thing. Specially when coupled with the thought that they can shut it down without due process, proof or really anything but their own desire.

Time to start paying into FBI, ICE, DHS people's "promotion campaign funds", so they take your side, and help you screw with competitors. it will be like federal elections but lower level and much scummier. :(

I guess those sites making the money would have spend some to police them, instead of content owners having to do it. Not saying it's a good law, I haven't read it. Im just relieved they are finally addressing the injustice of content pirates ruling the world. I hope the law doesn't affect your bottom line the way piracy has mine.
