Guys, it calls for a trade union because of the .XXX
It is my sincerely opinion. There are a lot of people that are considering this solution, since we all have to suffer because of this situation. I would like to know your opinion. If there will be positive point of views, I, for instance, will guarantee the legal advising and representation.
What do you think? |

Trade unions have rules/Adult webmasters don't follow rules

[QUOTE=ArsewithClass;18622439]Who are you?
You have friends in legal positions or are you fronting the operation with finance? :2 cents: Actually, my brother is a lawyer on online intellectual property. A very good one, in fact. But that is not important. Good lawyers can be found anywhere, if you pay them well. The thread is about developing a trade union for webmasters. I refuse to believe that an NGO as International Foundation For Online Responsibility may have so much influence and all the webmasters have to shut their mouth. This is the thing. |
Who gonna collect the money

First, let's see if webmasters are "pro". I think that the best solution
may appear after discussing this matter very seriously. |

If you don't like .xxx, you are free to boycott them. You don't need a trade union for that.

I think you want a trade association.
A union would require that no one could work in a non-management capacity without joining and working only under the union contract, so that labor (non-management) could demand higher pay and benefits than non-union workers are willing to work for. For example the union would set a certain pay rate for people doing banners and if you weren't good enough to be paid $100 per banner it would be illegal for you to do them at all. In adult most of us are management, except perhaps for models. There is no unskilled labor force to be represented by a union, and setting a specific pay rate for all SEO people would be even more ridiculous than setting a certain rate for all electricians. The prary result would be that the bottom 50% would be unemployed because their work isn't worth the union established rate. A trade association could take a stand on issues like .xxx . A couple exist. You may want to look into supporting some of the existing associations. The Electronic Frontier Foundation serves that role regarding free speech issues and will probably be our primary defenders when the Clintons and their friends try a fourth time with CDA III, making .xxx mandatory. |
As someone with only 5 posts here, I will be kind. Spend a few months reading threads and post. Then the answer will become obvious to you.
Getting webmasters to join anything, well this tells you all you need to know. http://i.imgur.com/nHH2o.gif That and the gif of the rat. Except this rat hasn't got the strength to lift the bar. |
