Scratched my MW3 xbox360 CD, can I combine with a copy?
I moved my xbox360 and my hour old mw3 disc got a circular scratch which I realized after is a common problem when moving the xbox, yes I know stupid move. Anyways, the scratch seems to be in a fixed area half way down the disc. The game loads but gets the disc error before I get to load a game.
Is there anyway I can combine the contents of this disc with the contents of a copied disc so that I can put the unique serial (or whatever xbox uses to know if its a copy or not) onto the copy? Maybe like open both files in text editor and replace the first and last 1000 or so lines of the copy disc contents with that of the original disc contents? |
no nothing will work.
You can either buff it out with toothpaste and water, or order a replacement disk for $20 from Microsoft. |
Just saw some videos about the polishing. Ill try the toothpaste with a dremel. So Microsoft only charges $20 for a replacement? I heard they are a complete scam as far as these disc failures go

Throw it in the garbage and buy Battlfield 3.
Sorry, every COD thread has to have BF3 mentioned, it's in the rules. |
Go get a new one dude..
It's just 60 bucks!!! What's done is done. |
Buy a new one and return the old one in the new packaging as defective, then power up because you just hacked life.

Idk how I know that. |
It could be done, but ordering a replacement disk is a lot simpler and more reliable. Earlier today I had a piece of sample plastic I tested there different toothpastes on, as well as Meguir's plastic polish. I wish I could find it now because some are definitely better than others. As I recall, the cheap Aim brand was best. You don't want "extra whitening" or similar because those have a much more aggressive abrasive.
Btw after seeing what the extra whitening did to plastic, I'll never again put it on my teeth. I don't really want to grind away at my tooth enamel. |

I did something like that when I was a teenager. Simpler just skip the middle steps and steal it from someone after they buy it instead of switching it just before they buy it. |
Give the box a kick to smarten it up

rent or borrow a copy and install it to the hard drive...then put in your scratched one whenever you start it up. If the game is on the HD it just checks that you have the original disc and then loads from the HD

Why don't you just get a new one from like walmart and place the fucked up one back and return it. That's what i normal person would do.
