All the anger but .xxx is cool to the regular population!
I'm sure i'll be hated for saying this but its true. Industry wide the moves made by ICM we're shady and deceiving in regards to the approval process they seemed to manipulate. My own name and tens of thousands of others we're written in public forum in a generic letter saying WE SUPPORTED a new .TLD and to approve it. For that alone I'm angry, like everyone else.
On the flipside, my techy friends and associates and the humming around the town was how cool it would be to own an .xxx domain and how neat it is. Lol. As many have hinted on here, the same people who oppose .xxx problably have a portfolio or .xxx domains that would knock your socks off lol. But what do I know, I just make porn for a living lol. |
I know I'm thinking outside the box here, but let's say your name is John Smith or Electronics Ltd and you do not want your name associated with a gay ass banging site. What's the easiest way to protect it? Buy the TLD.
Maybe these two haven't been taken, but how many have and wil be renewed over and over again? Adult is shrinking, the trough is getting smaller every day. Both in revenue and in numbers. Big boys are protected by trade marks. Are there 1 million small domains that will be picked up with a .xxx extension year after year? That's only $100 million, sounds a lot until you think what ICM is spending advertising .xxx to the general public. Anyone else think Lawley is planning to sell the TLD further afield than the Adult Industry? |
Regular population believe that the mouse and the cell phone it was invented by Steve Jobs, and good part of them do not believe in darwinian evolution too.

Paul - adult is not shrinking, but it's marketing is changing from away from affiliate marketing and charging $30 a month to be a "member" of a website.
You always confuse the decline of the paysite and the affiliate business model with the decline of adult. |
