Sandusky arrested on new sex abuse charges

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP)?Ex-Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested and arraigned Wednesday on new sex abuse charges brought by two new accusers, the state attorney general?s office said.

The charges were brought after new accusers were questioned by a grand jury following Sandusky?s arrest last month. One alleged victim claims he was assaulted after meeting Sandusky in 1997 and the other claims he was assaulted in 2004.

A call seeking comment from Sandusky?s lawyer, Joseph Amendola, was not immediately returned.

Jerry Sandusky Sandusky was already charged with 40 counts of child sex abuse involving eight young boys over a 15-year span. He has denied being a pedophile and has vowed to fight the case. In interviews with NBC and The New York Times, he has said he showered and horsed around with boys but never sexually abused them.

The new charges include four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, all of them first-degree felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

Sandusky also was charged with a count of indecent assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of children. Those are third-degree felonies punishable by up to seven years in prison and $15,000 in fines.

Like some of the other victims, the two new ones, dubbed Victims 9 and 10 by prosecutors, allegedly met Sandusky through The Second Mile charity, which he founded in 1977.

?As in many of the other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of `grooming? victims,? Attorney General Linda Kelly said in a statement. ?Beginning with outings to football games and gifts; they later included physical contact that escalated to sexual assaults.?

2 additional men claim Jerry Sandusky abused them as children, attorney general says

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/ind...m_jerry_s.html

Quote:

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office has filed new charges against Jerry Sandusky, 67, as part of an investigation into alleged sexual assaults of children.

Here's the press release from AG Linda Kelly:

?Today?s criminal charges were recommended by a statewide investigating grand jury, based on evidence and testimony that was received following the initial arrest of Sandusky on November 5th,? Kelly said. ?At that time, Sandusky was charged with sexually assaulting eight victims, all of whom first encountered Sandusky as children through The Second Mile, a organization that he founded to operate programs for disadvantaged young people.?

Kelly said these latest criminal charges come following grand jury testimony from two additional young men, identified as Victim 9 and Victim 10, who were allegedly targeted by Sandusky when they were children.

?As in many of the other cases identified to date, the contact with Sandusky allegedly fit a pattern of ?grooming? victims,? Kelly said, ?Beginning with outings to football games and gifts; they later included physical contact that escalated to sexual assaults.?

According to the grand jury, Victim 9 first encountered Sandusky in approximately 2004, while participating in a summer camp organized by The Second Mile, when he was 11 or 12 years old. Sandusky allegedly approached the young man, engaged him in conversation and expressed an interest in spending more time with the child.

Kelly said Sandusky allegedly took the boy to numerous Penn State University football games and gave him gifts and money.

Later, the grand jury found that during overnight stays at Sandusky?s home, behavior such as hugging, rubbing, cuddling and tickling ? initially viewed as acts of affection ? escalated to sexual assaults. Additional sex acts were allegedly performed in the swimming pool and Jacuzzi of a hotel in the State College area, at times when the pool area was not occupied.

According to the presentment, Sandusky told Victim 9 that he loved and cared for him and urged him to keep their activities secret.

In the case of Victim 10, the boy was referred to The Second Mile in 1997, when he was 10 years old, at the recommendation of a counselor because of difficulties in his home life. Sandusky allegedly approached the boy during a summer camp and later made arrangements to take the boy to several Penn State Football games where the boy played football at Holuba Hall on the Penn State campus, attended ?tailgate parties? prior to the game and spent time at the Sandusky home.

According to the grand jury, ?wrestling? sessions in the basement of Sandusky?s home eventually escalated to incidents where Sandusky performed oral sex on the boy. Victim 10 also detailed incidents which occurred at a swimming pool on the Penn State Campus, along with an encounter in a car when Sandusky allegedly exposed himself and requested oral sex from the boy.

As in other cases, Sandusky allegedly gave the boy gifts and frequently told the boy that he loved him.

Sandusky is charged with four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, all first-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $25,000 fines.

Additionally, he is charged with one count of indecent assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of children, all third-degree felonies which are each punishable by up to seven years in prison and $15,000 fines.

Sandusky is also charged with one count of indecent assault and two counts of corruption of minors, all first-degree misdemeanors each punishable by up to five years in prison and $10,000 fines.

Sandusky was arrested today by agents from the Attorney General?s Office and Pennsylvania State Police and preliminarily arraigned before Senior Magisterial District Judge Robert E. Scott, from Westmoreland County, who has been assigned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to handle this matter.

A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for Tuesday, December 13th, at 8:30 a.m., before Magisterial District Judge Robert E. Scott, at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.

Attorney General Kelly thanked the Pennsylvania State Police for their continued cooperation and assistance with this ongoing investigation.

Kelly and Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Noonan emphasized that this remains an active and ongoing investigation and stress that any information or leads should be provided to the Attorney General?s Office and Pennsylvania State Police. Potential victims or others with information related to this case are asked to contact investigators from the Office of Attorney General at 814-863-1053 or Pennsylvania State Police at 814-470-2238.

?As in any other criminal investigation, we will continue to follow the evidence and facts wherever they lead,? Kelly said.

I love jail shows, been obsessed with Lock Up Raw on MSNBC lately and they hate child molestors. They are called Cho Mo's there and I have always had the belief that you should just send molestors to prison because they will be some big guy's bitch for the rest of his sentence.

The other prisoners scream from their cells about cho mo's for no reason. It's nuts, didn't realize how hated they were in prison until watching that.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sandusky offs himself before the trial is done with.

I wonder, in the end, how many there will be. A lot of these cases once some people come forward the other victims realize they are not alone and come forward as well. I wouldn't be shocked to see many more come forward and accuse him.

Bail Set

Jerry Sandusky's bail set at $250,000 after 2 new alleged victims come forward

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/ind...d_with_as.html

Quote:

A district judge today set bail at $250,000 cash for Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant football charged with assaulting 10 boys. Charges in two of those cases were filed today; Sandusky was taken out of his State College home in handcuffs by the Centre County District Attorney's office.

Bail was set at $250,000 cash, meaning he has to post the full amount to get out. If he does, he will be on ankle monitor. He was arraigned before Senior Magisterial District Judge Robert E. Scott of Westmoreland County. A preliminary hearing on the charges is set for Tuesday, the same day his previous case is set for a hearing.

Prosecutors asked today for $1 million bail. Sandusky's lawyer Joe Amendola protested that amount, saying his client has never considered fleeing and offered to turn himself in.

He was charged today with involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

Sandusky was charged Nov. 4 with 40 counts of abusing eight boys over 15 years and released on unsecured bail. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Centre County on those charges.

Sandusky has maintained his innocence. He has said he showered with boys but describes his contact with them always as family-like.

The new charges today involve two men who claim Sandusky assaulted them when they were children. One victim says he was assaulted in the basement of Sandusky's State College home and screamed for help.

All of the alleged victims were involved in The Second Mile, a children's charity Sandusky founded in 1977. Some of the alleged assaults reportedly happened on the Penn State campus.

One man has already filed a civil suit against Sandusky, Penn State and The Second Mile. Another has said through his lawyer that a lawsuit is pending.

Penn State will never be the same - if I was a parent or kid considering where to go to college and was considering Penn State before this became public, I wouldn't go or send my kid there. The Penn State police, the president of the university, the athletic director, Joe Paterno the legend, and i'm sure hundreds of other people in power on that campus knew what this guy was about and not only didn't they fucking stop him, they allowed him to use Penn State and its football team, its athletic facilities to help him ingratiate himself with impressionable little boys so he could fuck them.

This case is probably much much bigger than you will ever realize because I bet 90% of those involved will not be brought to trial or even have their names mentioned. These elite pedo rings are notorious for being covered up. Penn State brought in the former top FBI man Freeh. That gives you a clue they want it to look good but not get too out of hand. Freeh is a guy they know will "play ball" so to speak.

I believe its waaay beyond football and hockey. You're going to find creepy old men preying on young boys - or even just young, adult men - anywhere that adults have authority over youths.

This abuse is prevalent in every sport (except maybe NASCAR and UFC...), in all religions, in your schools, in your youth groups, in your Boy Scouts.

Pedophiles will hunt down - and aquire - these positions of power and influence. And they should all be put to death.

The judge who freed Jerry Sandusky on bail that was lower than prosecutors requested -- and said he didn't require an ankle monitor -- has not only volunteered for Sandusky's Second Mile charity but also reportedly benefited from a fundraiser organized by a Second Mile official.

Prosecutors say that the charity was a source of victims for the former Penn State football coach, who has been charged in the sexual assaults of eight boys over a 15-year period.

Disagree. The real issue is that these sports are considered sacred (football in America, hockey in Canada). Even more so now than actual religion.

Tempting fact to gloss over and make it about power, but what made these monsters so untouchable is a) money and b) "local pride" in whatever stupid city with whatever shitty sports team.

not an issue, in schools or public organizations as those are just plain old coverups.

Last I heard he was still in jail from today's arrest, pending a $250,000 cash bail. He has to post the whole thing in order to get out. Somehow I doubt that will be a problem for him. I ran out for a bit, and haven't checked anything yet, so I don't know if he posted it or not.

That doesn't seem to be the case. Local media here has reported that so far, only one football player who had previously committed to PSU has backed out. All others are still on board. Additionally, they say PSU admissions and donations are up.

Penn State president says admissions, donations are up

In a statement on Penn State's website, President Rodney Erickson touted the university's plan to donate $1.5 million in bowl money to organizations that deal with sexual assault and the town hall meetings held to discuss the sex abuse scandal that has encompassed the school.

Former assistant Nittany Lions football coach Jerry Sandusky has been charged with sexually abusing eight boys over 15 years, some of them on campus.

In his statement on Penn State Live today, Erickson said:

"To date, applications for admission to Penn State are up more than 3.4 percent over last year. ...

"The base of philanthropic support remains strong. Since July 1 and for the month of November, our annual giving program totals via the Lion Line, direct mail and online contributions show increases over last year in three important categories -- the amount of dollars and the number of donors and gifts. ...

"Penn State Career Services reports that interest by corporate recruiters has not wavered; in fact, recruiters and corporations are registering for the Spring Career Fair at a higher rate than they did last spring. ...

"I urge you to take a moment to reflect on the important work that happens every day at Penn State. I believe wholeheartedly in the value of this undertaking, and I hope you'll share my confidence in our future."

Jerry Sandusky posts $250K bail
Updated: December 8, 2011, 12:15 PM ET

BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- Former Penn State football assistant coach Jerry Sandusky posted bail Thursday after spending a night in jail following a new round of sex-abuse charges filed against him.

Sandusky secured his release using $200,000 in real estate holdings and a $50,000 certified check provided by his wife, Dorothy, according to online court records. Sandusky remained at the facility as of late morning and the warden said he was quiet and cooperative during his overnight stay.

Under the terms of his release, Sandusky will be confined to his home, subject to electronic monitoring and forbidden from having any contact with any witnesses or victims in the attorney general investigation.

Sandusky was arrested Wednesday and charged with 12 new sex abuse counts involving two new alleged victims. He has maintained his innocence. In all, he faces more than 50 charges.

The latest accusers are the ninth and 10th alleged victims described in grand jury reports that claim Sandusky befriended and then molested boys he met through his Second Mile charity for troubled youth. A grand jury document released Wednesday echoed an earlier report, saying Sandusky gave the boys gifts while also making sexual advances toward them.

One of the new accusers said Sandusky kept him in a basement bedroom during overnight visits to Sandusky's home, forced him to perform sex acts and assaulted him.

"The victim testified that on at least one occasion he screamed for help, knowing that Sandusky's wife was upstairs, but no one ever came to help him," the grand jury report said.

Sandusky was charged last month with abusing eight boys, some on campus, over 15 years. Officials say the allegations were not immediately brought to the attention of authorities even though high-level people at Penn State apparently knew about them.

The scandal resulting from Sandusky's arrest led to the ouster of Paterno and longtime college president Graham Spanier.

In interviews following his initial arrest, Sandusky denied sexually assaulting children but acknowledged showering and engaging in "horseplay" with them.
And if you haven't read the new grand jury presentment, did catch part of the new claims mentioned up above?
