People who have multiple characters have an advantage on 1 million post contest..

I know different people post with different characters, for fun and games of course, but the ~$30,000 in prizes being awarded should allow everyone a fair and equal chance to win.

I'm not looking for people to flame me for this post, you can just hit the back button. I'm just wondering if Lensman or anyone else has thought of this same unfair advantage that some people will use?

Cheers,
Matt

Could you please explain how this makes it unfair?

Um. What's the advantage? They never said one guess per account, and the rest only depend on how much you post, not how many accounts.

Raph 02-04-2003 07:24 PM

someone could cheat by taking like 30 guesses with 30 different accounts .. that's the only I see someone could cheat

and golly... if I did that, and one of the aliases won, do you think Lensman won't figure out it's me when I give him my NAME to collect?

stop with the conspiracy shit guys.

Nippon 02-04-2003 07:25 PM

I'm in with 112 guesses. All my nicks total up to 453,852 posts. I think I do have a right to win.

Lensman can't / doesn't know everyone's name, and people have had multiple characters for months to years..

It's a valid thought, whether you think it is a conspiracy or not. Yes, I agree if someone known on this board wins. But what if Bob-JoeBlow-Yo with 250 posts and been a member for 3 months wins?

Maybe a bit more of a background check is needed for the winners.. And you can't tell me 1/3rd of $30,000 isn't a lot just for guessing a date.

Meh, just ideas..

Cheers,
Matt

maybe you should simply continue crying about that gfy mouse pad you never recieved. boo fucking hoo.

Theo 02-04-2003 07:50 PM

it's official

Dr Katz 02-04-2003 07:52 PM

Regardless of whether they use an alias or not - the fact still remains that they DID guess the closest time.

yes they may have had more than one guess - but it's like the Lottery- you cant deny the Lottry winner his money because he bought more than one ticket.

By the way - you've just enlightened a lot of people to this tactic - this thread only serves to make the problem worse than it already was. *doh*

Both of your points are wrong. Do we all have a chance to guess 5 different dates/times? No, with lotteries everyone has the same chance, $1 = 1 chance.

And regarding enlightening people, if people start to signup a new account, I am sure there will be suspicion.

Matt

christ....

some people simply can't be happy unless there's a problem with something or some kind of inherent flaw....

can't just be a cool contest can it... no.... that would be too simple.

this is why I don't participate in contests anymore.

It's actually 2 mousepads, 1 shirt, 1 jacket, and an Xbox that I haven't received. Thanks for reading all my posts though! You must have a lot of free time...

You should take the $4 million and retire! Did you finally let someone buy your site from you?? :eek2

Cheers,
Matt

Nope, none - It was you who are stuck up/unreasonable thinking someone will pay 100% upfront for something, especially when talking in the millions.

And quiet, I know why you can't sell your site if you call a business proposal pitiful.

Cheers,
Matt

No. I believe in survival of the fittest, and death to weaklings.

What else would you call an offering to buy your site then?

I'd truly like to get an intelligent response from you, though I don't think that is possible so I am going to bed.

most here think 6 month profit is a fair selling price (no wonder i will never sell). that works out to 240K/month after expenses. ready to purchase?

no? awwwww. going to bed is a great excuse.

Rictor 02-04-2003 10:17 PM

I agree. Just give the prize to me and that will solve everything.
