streaming mp4 won't play

Do you know how to get a mp4 video to start playing before the stream downloads. I am using Final Cut Pro?

You need a streaming server or pseudo streaming.

yes I have wowza installed.

I have looked around and they say I need to move the MOOV atoms to the front of the file so it will start playing almost immediately?

Shouldn't FCP do this?

Thanks

Ah.. Yeah.. You need to use something like qt-faststart for that. Don't know if FCP would do that automatically for you. Sort of doubt it.

No FCP doesnt do that...neither does vegas or premiere.

get mp4faststart if its available for Mac otherwise something similar....you can also do it with quicktime if you have half a day to wait on it...

a quick fix it to open the .mp4 in quicktime pro and save for web. This will put the moov atom at the start.

If you export h264 for download from FCP it will stream in any ordinary browser flash player.

Another way is install MP4Box on your box of choice then issue the command

./MP4Box -inter 500 file.mp4

for each file you want to fast start.
