Promoting certifiedhosting - No credit given. Terminated prior to 90 days.

Webmasters who promote certifiedhosting, do you have many notes like: No credit given. Terminated prior to 90 days. ???

Barefootsies 12-05-2011 06:56 AM

It is a fraud prevention technique.

It sounds like a pretty clear cut case of your referrals need to rebill for a minimum term of 90 days to get the referral credit. This is standard (more common than not) for commissions at the hosting level, as well as the real world in general if you do any sort of commissioned sales. All new sign ups need to rebill for a minimum of 30/60/90 days before credit is paid. If they cancel prior, you do not get the green.

Yes i know, but the issue is that i recommend this host to a friend and he told me they blocked him for using too many resources, even he told he will move his resource consumer site from them and leave there only blogs/static sites with few traffic (he brought an unlimited addon domains plan). And they do not answer his tickets anymore. They just made a rar file with all his files and send to him. Very strange. They make all kind of discounts and publicity to bring more customers and after they register support team threw them away. Kacy if you read this thread maybe you clear things.

I remember talking to the sales rep on their site's instant chat. First question I asked was : What is "unlimited" web hosting?

They told me " Its exactly as it says. You get unlimited hosting."

To which I answer : " So I could put up as many domains, take up as much space and burn as much b/w as I want for $4.95 a month?"

Then I learned that unlimited hosting does not actually imply unlimited ressources. As long as your not clogging up the machine or taking up too much space, its fine. But bottom line, their sales motto is tricky.

Its not actual unlimited hosting AND they couldn't give me an exact value for what was "too much" when it came to ressource hogging.

So my personal opinion is to stay away from something so unclear or just keep them for small low traffic sites.

with Certified they offer a guarantee plan so if you exceed your resources etc they will not shut you down. otherwise as they state without the plan you are subject to getting shut down if you are in violation.
this is why it pays to monitor your stats in the cert host control panel...

The idea is that they did not let him do something to minimize the resources he consumed, they just threw him away with no more details...He knows that unlimited is not unlimited in this case, but he was not allowed to move his big site to another hosting and leave there only small sites...

adultforum 12-05-2011 07:40 AM

...and i wonder why i have No credit given. Terminated prior to 90 days notes...

No offense my friend, but if you honestly believe you would have UNLIMITED resources for pennies or a few bucks, then you're foolish. There is no one going to give you truly UNLIMITED resources for a few bucks.

That being said, they do have some sort of UNLIMITED explanation and AUP detailed.

Barefootsies the ideea is that their support team are trained to threw away new customers, not to try to keep them. My friend did changed dns's for the main domain to another hosting and left there only few static sites and blogs with few daily visits so no resource eaters. And they still closed him.

Understood.

Not very nice on their behalf. :2 cents:

Hey sorry to get in on this thread so late.

@adultforum - that is certainly NOT our motive. We want to retain every customer possible. It sounds very odd that we refused to help your friend figure out the issue, seems like there is more to the story. If you would like to email me kacy [at] certifiedhosting.com with your affiliate ID I can get the order number you are referencing and investigate from there.

Regarding the "unlimited hosting" this has really been beaten to death. I hoped that, especially on this board with more experienced webmasters, it would be clear by now that unlimited bandwidth and space does not mean unlimited CPU and RAM. Why would any ever need need a VPS or dedicated server then. Really? Not to mention the fact that we are VERY upfront about what unlimited means on our website, unlike many of our competitors AND offer an option to protect your services.
http://certifiedhosting.com/unlimited

If anyone has any questions regarding our services or affiliate program I am happy to clear up any confusion and you are welcome to contact me personally. We have 1000's of happy affiliates that make good money from our program and even more happy clients.

As far as I know Certified is the only hosting company that is honest in pretty clear terms what "unlimited" means.
I've used almost 2tb of transfer on their shared hosting before, no problem so I believe that they're sincere about that in terms of only bandwidth.

blackmonsters 12-05-2011 10:54 AM

I don't use anything that says "unlimited hosting" because it's complete bullshit.

If I'm using too much resources then I want a host that gives me another server for
a good price; not cut me off.
